@ChrisPenknz Refutes the protest on the premises? Or the premises of the protest?

First indoor air quality experiment down. Cooked with our natural gas stove for about 30 min starting at 7pm. PM2.5 was the equivalent of our worst days of wildfire smoke this year. #energytwitter

QUESTION OF THE DAY 20200819 What is your preferred method of valuing the shares of a company in 5~10 years’ time ? - not their value today - the value or price of the actual shares in 2025 or 2030 For example : - AAPL - AMZN - MSFT - TSLA All viewpoints are appreciated

Just for the record, my Hydrogen focus is on : 1. Iron and Steel making as a replacement for Coal 2. Ocean Shipping where I cannot yet see a better alternative 3. Very long distance Air Transportation . . . perhaps @HogDexter

@kmccready @worldofhawk @_chloeswarbrick In a better world, the Minister of Statistics would have put funding into fixing back end data systems so that this kind of number would be knowable without a specialized custom data pull with multi-week lag times. Instead he is funding a useless IANZ project.

“Radical”: An economic policy that ensures 93% of New Zealanders are materially better off. A policy that ends poverty, incentivises community contribution, creativity and collective aspiration. Wild.

@MaxRashbrooke @NZGreens How will this interact with FIF tax such as the deemed 5% Fair Dividend Rate? Or even income producing assets more broadly? Will it be taxed additional to, or will it offset?

As someone who's long argued for a wealth tax, pleased to see @NZGreens campaign on an annual levy of 1% on wealth (after debts) over $1m, and 2% over $2m. Would generate c.$8bn pa and bring us into line with global practice of taxing wealth owners as well as salary earners.

Conclusion: "These findings show that despite its premature cancellation by an incoming government that reneged on its electoral promise to see the pilot through, basic income recipients benefitted in a range of ways. In this sense, the pilot was nothing short of successful."

@TomSesselmann @MikeHudema You’re 100% right about turbines on buses. These roadside turbines depend on the extent that this recovers “waste” energy vs. creating additional drag for the bus to overcome. My gut feel is it would be more the former than the latter, however.

In Turkey this pilot project is using wind from passing busses to rotate wind vanes and #solar panels creating enough electricity to power 20,000 homes. We have the solutions to the #climate crisis. Let's implement them #ActOnClimate #tech #climate

@REasther @Quantensalat I think it’s conflating the idea that human emissions increase the natural carbon cycle by 3%; which would confuse the “flow” of carbon with a “store” of carbon 🤔🤷‍♂️

This is remarkable tweet; the author has managed to pack at least three profound misunderstandings and misrepresentations into 280 characters, but represents a leading denialist organisation that receives millions of dollars in donations from mining interests.
Evan Mulholland MP@evmulholland

@GuardianAus @newscorpaus Even if you accept their viewpoint, CO2 makes up just 0.04% of the earth’s atmosphere, human activity makes up just 3% of that, Australia’s contribution to global carbon emissions is only 1.3% - these are facts media and activists don’t want you to hear.

Looks like @SharesiesNZ has some new competition when it comes to micro-investing in shares on the NZX 👀. ShareMeUp is a new service that just launched - sharemeup.app/Home/

The Greens started talking about climate change 30 years ago. With the community, we didn't give up and the Zero Carbon Bill passed last week is a result of that. Thank you Aotearoa, you made this possible.

National fighting for buyers of the most gas-guzzling, brand-new luxury SUVs to avoid paying $3k (<3% of vehicle cost) as their share of transition to a cleaner fleet... but looking at fining poor parents of struggling children same amount. Says it all. nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?obje…

@_chloeswarbrick @JulieAnneGenter @NZGreens Would there need to be a significant investment in public infrastructure (Eg: charging stations, etc) so people can use the discounted cars? Having said that, I’m in favourite of doing what we can to reduce emissions.
