This paper will outline the results of 2 of 7 surveys we carried out in 2018-19 for @HistoricEngland on shipwrecks linked with their current maritime research theme of early iron and steel ships, or in connection with the D-Day 75th anniversary commemorations. 1/17 #PMAC20

Entering the English Channel on 31st January with a tired and inexperienced crew, it was rammed by one of the other ships in the squadron whilst trying to avoid a sailing ship and sank within a few minutes. Tragically, most of the crew drowned. 4/17 #PMAC20

@James__Dixon It's already having an impact as St Stephen's Church wants to mark the lives of the Inuit who died in Bristol & want to do that in collaboration with people in Nunavut, rather than taking hasty decisions about memorials & such

@NakanishiYumiko @James__Dixon You're welcome. I writing a paper on historic fuel oils, based on our work for the UK Ministry of Defence related to their ongoing wreck and pollution risk management. Much of that work concerns 1939-45 wrecks.
