A major news story that will not get the coverage it deserves: Over 300 schoolchildren and 12 teachers have been abducted by gunmen from St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in north-central Nigeria’s Niger state. This updates an earlier count of 215 schoolchildren. The students are male and female, ranging in age from 10 to 18. Their kidnapping happened four days after 25 schoolchildren were seized in similar circumstances in neighboring Kebbi state. Nobody yet claimed responsibility.

Years ago right after the Berlin Wall fell I did a documentary for c4 all about the GDR doping program. I was allowed access to the old Stasi building & did interviews with the girls who were already very ill because of the testosterone they were forced to take to win medals for men in grey suits & the state! I was allowed to pick out files but not read names, of neighbours reporting on neighbours. They had very little but were encouraged to report on anyone that had even a Christmas parcel from the west! I despise socialism in its extreme form. Working to the lowest denominator, removing aspiration, free speech & applying control through fear. It’s what I saw for many years racing in countries behind that iron curtain. I would take half a suitcases full of make up & old magazines for the girls I raced. Today I watch as a country I’ve always been immensely proud to represent🇬🇧 get ever closer to all the things every single one of those people behind that iron curtain was desperate to get away from. Socialism is not fair for all… it’s control by the few, my making everyone poorer, ask Russia ask China, ask North Korea. Don’t get me wrong Big Corporate & megalomaniacs are just as bad. Right now we’re being caught between both!

This clown needs to check his privilege. I read @JDVance book making the mistake of finding him quite interesting. By his own admission he spent his time in the Marines “writing articles and taking pictures”. Perhaps if he had got his hands dirty serving his country like so many of his fellow American and British veterans, chasing his own country’s crazy foreign policy ideas, he might not be so quick to dismiss their sacrifice.
