@BrandonBVarnell I don't get why Witch Hat Atelier needs a multiracial cast of characters. There is nothing in the story that explains why the world would look like that, so it just feels like the artist is checking boxes.

People aren't complaining about the manga. They're complaining about the UNESCO interview and how it tried to paint Kamome Shirahama as some kind of political crusader for the west in an industry full of "horrible men".
They're complaining because the interview ignores how some of the greatest Manga to have come out within the last 4 decades were written by women.
Witch Hat Atalier isn't the real problem for many. It's how UNESCO has for many years tried to paint the manga industry as sexist and full of pedophiles.
I feel bad for Kamome Shirahama. Her name and work is being dragged through the mud because of them. I actually like Witch Hat Atalier.

You observed a problem, and discussed it with your wife.
Your wife expressed that the items causing the problem were important to her.
No compromises or alternate solutions were presented or discussed. No resolution was reached.
So you, unilaterally and behind her back, threw away items that she specifically told you were important to her.
Did it never occur to you to maybe box them up and put them in a closet? Or put them on a higher shelf? Or any of a dozen other potential compromises that would remove the danger without costing her something she obviously valued?

It’s 2026, we are gonna be 6 expansions deep into FFXIV soon. Can we stop with the weird gatekeepy behavior if someone doesn’t want to play through 250 hours of story to be able to play some of the best MMO raid encounters ever made?
Heaven forbid someone asks you a small lore question if they start getting interested in the story after starting the game 10 years late. Are we really gonna keep driving people away with this weird NIMBY ritual? Just use your social skills (lol) and answer the small question, suggest they start a story alt on their downtime, or direct them to a synopsis video on YouTube.
Crying about “story skippers” this deep into a game’s development cycle is peak cringe. If they set up a skip to Dawntrail for new characters to jump into the new story arc I and many others feel like it would be beneficial for the game’s long term health. While the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc is great storytelling it’s also not a sacred cow for people to clutch pearls over.
At the end of the day, it’s a game to be played. We’re all better than this and should start acting like it.
