Everyone knows the #Isles need some real change, this roster is too stale and too limited in too many areas. For me, here are the 5 moves they absolutely need to make this summer: 1. Get a reliable backup for Sorokin. He’s been carrying the load forever and it’s not sustainable. Grab someone who can actually play 25-30 games without completely falling apart. 2. Move on from Anders Lee. Love the guy, he’s been a great captain but at 36, it’s time. Let him test free agency and use that money to bring in someone younger and quicker on the wing. 3. Buyout or bury Palat, Mayfield and Engvall. Those contracts are already dead money dragging the roster down. Clearing atleast two of these guys frees up some cap space and opens lineup spots for guys who can actually help. 4. Trade one of Pelech, Holmstrom, or Barzal. It sucks, but Pelech makes the most sense. He’s still solid but replaceable now with Schaefer. Holmstrom you could move too if the return is good, likely a piece in a blockbuster type trade. Barzal only if something absolutely crazy lands on the table. 5. Use every dollar and draft pick to add speed and top-six scoring. Draft the best talent available, give the young guys real minutes, and add a couple of fast forwards through trade or free agency. We need players who have a shoot first mentality and have had success on the power play. This current lineup just cannot consistently generate offense or run a competent power play, so any and all roster moves (besides Schaefer) need to be on the table moving forward. Alright GM’s, that’s my take. What’s your plan for this team over the summer?

Mathew Barzal and Bo Horvat are excellent players. The mistake folks commonly make is forgetting that they make $8.5M and $9M. 30G for Horvat, and over 70 points for Barzal this season. They do their jobs! I believe you should be frustrated with everything else. #Isles
