Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart did not act like we were in the Champions League at all. They continued the strategy of making Chelsea into a talent farm rather than a club trying to compete seriously for honors. Over the last two summer windows, they've done nothing but dump extremely complex situations on managers, expect them to win enough games to stay above water, and antagonize them when they complain about the difficulty of the job.

He is not perfect. I criticize some of his decisions. I also give him credit where its due. Overall, with what he has been given, he did a very good job for his first season. Some of us might have expected UCL qualification and the UECL title, but I am certain that not one single person on this planet expected Chelsea to win the CWC, not even Chelsea fans, and that was extremely evident after the loss to Fluminense. It was up to the directors of this club tasked with spending the money we have to give him squad improvements capable of making a proud return to the Champions League, as well as improving domestically. They did not do that, and that's a fact.

It’s clear that our strategy puts business first and footballing success second. That doesn’t mean they don’t want to win things, though. It just complicates them.

@B03GHB4L1 I'm always trying to see the positives and be optimistic about our transfers but seeing the same problems come up every season in the same way isn't even concering me anymore its just annoys me to waste our potential.

@Grassi_7 @secretsourc Lol, I know the SD should have gotten a CB and maybe a Keeper but we have one of the most favorable fixtures into this season and Maresca hasn’t covered himself in glory with the way he has managed the squad at his disposal.

@PriinceAdeniyii @secretsourc yes, results were poor. He made bad decisions (maybe even intentionally), players don't look sharp atm (CWC fatique) and injuries to crucial players. My point is rather that we don't need a bad relationship between EM and the board.
