@RealDaveMorris Perhaps if designers think of the concept more broadly as "interactive fiction" rather than "gamebook" we'd see more innovation as things migrate to an online format. Alas, most of what I've seen is a digital emulation of the original analog experience that too often falls flat.

@GrayMouther Good point! A gamebook in print feels like its own thing, whereas an e-gamebook is basically The Thaumaturge without a fully animated world and only 5-10% of the story content...

@Weird_Friction That’s an impossible ask! Too many great ones. Red Nails, The Devil in Iron, Shadows in the Moonlight, The Tower of the Elephant — and those are just a few of my favorite Conan stories. Love me some Solomon Kane, Kull, Bran Mak Morn, and soooo many other characters’ tales too.

@TheCinesthetic Poledouris’ score might have been the best thing about that movie, actually. It’s fantastic and its appreciation doesn’t depend at all on how closely it hews to the literature.

Basil Poledouris’ score for Conan the Barbarian (1982) feels like a character in its own right. Poledouris wrote it as a full operatic narrative, which is why scenes like the opening and the Battle of the Mounds play almost entirely through music.

I had that Luke figure! My bro had Darth Vader. It always bugged me that the movie was so inaccurate. As we all know, Luke’s light saber was yellow.

The original Luke Skywalker action figure made by Kenner in 1978. Luke Skywalker was first available as a mail away figure in the 1977 Early Bird Certificate Package during the 1977 holiday season and delivered in Spring of 1978 along with Princess Leia, R2-D2, & Chewbacca. This first version of Luke came with a Double Telescoping lightsaber that had a small filament that would further extend out from his yellow saber. Luke would get his official cardback release in early Spring of 1978 on the 12A cardbacks and shortly after the lightsaber would be replaced with a Single Telescoping lightsaber. Besides that variation, other variants come in the hair color: in yellow, brown, and the most rare, in orange. Luke would get re-packed for cardbacks released for the Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). #lukeskywalker #starwars #actionfigures #kenner #vintagecollectibles #toystagram
