@AmericanAir @stokesperson Hey @AmericanAir Twitter bot: if your website overcommunicated that this seat is on the window side, but doesn't have a window, I bet you could charge something in between a middle and a window seat cost. I bet there are people happy to pay an extra $15 to have this seat

We’re truly sorry to hear you were unaware that your seat didn’t have a window view. We understand how disappointing that can be, especially when you’re expecting a different experience. When selecting seats online, we do include details like no‑recline or window seats without a window to help guide your choice, and we appreciate you letting us know this wasn’t clear. Please share your confirmation code via DM so we can pass your comments along to our Web Support team for a closer look.

I feel like if you request/pay for a window seat, you should get a window. Am I missing something @AmericanAir ? I know you don’t offer aisle seats without aisles

I used to bash these posts relentlessly. The lack of taste, decorum, or respect for the most holy day of the year. The sickening lack of respect for himself, the nation, the office of the presidency is embarrassing at this point. The bar has been lowered so far for a position that once held such regard and standing. He never deserved to be president, the office, the country simply deserves better.

@avidseries Yet still better than what I think Kamala would have picked, all DEI hires with nutty anti merit, anti progress, woke ideas. Some people vote for Trump, many voted against more woke and open borders. You have to pick from the options you are presented with.

When you consider who Trump chose for his cabinet (e.g, crackpot RFK Jr, inept pooch-snuffing Border Barbie, towering human dumpster inferno Hegseth, 3rd-tier legal mind Bondi) and who he wanted but couldn't get (like the serial sex pest and alleged trafficker Matt Gaetz), and how hundreds of people took to my replies to defend the selection of every single one of these absurdities, it's almost impossible to not entertain the thesis of a MAGA low human capital problem.

@olave25MVP @benlikessport I’m saying him deciding to get behind the wheel isn’t about money, it’s about poor decision making. The same bad decision making that leads to middle class people, who can easily afford one, not call for one.

@michaelgazin @DanFriedman81 AI did not describe what the bathroom smelled like either. Good thing i can imagine what a sterile government bathroom might smell like, if i wanted to add that sensory description to my mental image of two dry scientists fucking on a sink.

Sure the story does somehow "transcend" the terrible writing, though it does not arrive to the reader unscathed. The problem with these "technical deficiencies", is that they leech richness out of the story's world. Sure there's enough story structure and archetype there to resonate with other humans, but the impact of a well painted picture at the hands of a wordsmith is immeasurably value-adding to the story. If the author can't see it, we can't see it. I made it to this page (below) about 2/3rds into the book and was just crushed by the unforgivable, dead weight of the words on the page. Totally indefensible. As an experiment, I had Gemini rewrite it with no context. Though of course not perfect, and the first attempt was wildly verbose, it was undeniably a richer world, an atmosphere brought to life, significantly more palpable humans... and that's with no context. A tragedy - the author, the guy who came up with this world, the guy who should know every square inch of that place, doesn't actually have a clue what "the bathroom down the hallway" even means... what it looks like, smells like, or what's hanging on the walls of the hallway to get there... he can't see it. And so while, sure, the story structure does arrive to the reader, the story's world is incalculably duller for it.

Writers like Dan Brown and Andy Weir, who write ugly and clumsy prose at the sentence level, are sometimes extremely engaging storytellers in ways that transcend their technical deficiencies. “Project: Hail Mary” is a story about a lonely astronaut who undertakes a one-way mission into deep space to do a science thing that is the only hope to save the world, and when he gets there, he encounters an alien bug who is also a lonely astronaut on the same kind of mission, and they become best friends and work together to do their science thing and find a way to get back home. It is utterly charming, and everybody knows it. All these dunks are meaningless.

Driving me slightly insane that everyone has to pretend that Andy Weir is a real novelist and not a guy whose books are like 70% math equations

The security lines at the Atlanta airport this morning were by far the worst I have ever seen. Yet amidst all the chaos and stress, I saw a lot of patience, grace and kindness extended not only between fellow passengers but especially towards the TSA workers whom everyone knew were not getting paid to be there. It was an uplifting reminder that even when we are being inconvenienced, we can still be kind to each other. I appreciate the TSA workers who were there who helped us get through, and yes, I made my flight. If you're traveling by air I strongly recommend finding out how much your airport is impacted and then getting there extra early anyway. Now let's have a great day of hoops!

Here is what’s really going on with regard to the funding stalemate in Congress. ICE agents shot and killed two U.S. citizens on the streets of Minneapolis. Democrats then said: before we write you another check, agree to the same rules every police department in America already follows. Judicial warrants before entering homes. Visible ID. Body cameras. No raids at schools and hospitals. We immediately pushed for votes to fund TSA, the Coast Guard, and FEMA. Republicans blocked it. We tried to fund FEMA alone. Republicans blocked that too. Their position was to fund ICE with no strings attached, or shut the whole thing down. So DHS shut down. Then yesterday, the White House sent a letter admitting we were right. But they still won’t agree to judicial warrants or to take the masks off, which means agents can still break down your door without a judge’s approval and you still can’t see their faces when they do it. We’ve been ready to fund your airport security since day one, not to mention Coast Guard, FEMA and the rest. Republicans chose to protect ICE from accountability instead. #FundDHSFreezeICE

@ginged78 @GreaseyWater @MikeLevin that's it. ice is fully funded doing the work it has always done. it's tsa, fema, and coast guard going without pay. now passengers are standing in long lines at the airport for up to 4 hours because tsa workers are not showing up for work

@MikeLevin all because democrats have a policy disagreement, they're holding dhs funding hostage. democrats are putting americans at risk so they can have their policy tantrum. ice agents are getting their paychecks for doing the same work they've always done, while tsa workers go without

@lusiusborrow @SamaHoole It is not. Cholesterol is the most important molecule in the body. So important, in fact, that the body produces it. Perhaps people with cardiovascular disease have elevated levels of cholesterol because it is there to help. This would imply that it is not a cause, but a cure.

Doctor: "Your cholesterol is high. I'd like to put you on a statin." Patient: "What does high cholesterol actually mean for my risk?" Doctor: "It increases your risk of a cardiac event." Patient: "By how much?" Doctor: "Significantly." Patient: "But how much, specifically?" Doctor: "Your LDL is elevated." Patient: "The absolute risk. What is it." Doctor: "Statins are very well studied." Patient: "I'd like the number." Doctor: "Some patients experience muscle pain, memory issues, and elevated blood sugar..." Patient: "That sounds like the treatment." Doctor: "These are rare." Patient: "What's the absolute risk reduction?" Doctor: "I have a leaflet." The leaflet is provided by the pharmaceutical company. The leaflet does not contain the absolute risk reduction.

I need people to see this because this is pure robbery. Here’s exactly what happened: United cancelled my flight. Cool, not the first time. I had travel credits from a PREVIOUS United cancellation sitting in my account ...money they already owe me basically. The cancelled flight had a “Change Flight” option. $500 to swap to a new one. Already bullshit because with my existing credits it should’ve been free or close to it..but no, United doesn’t let you apply credits to change fees. Credits are for “new bookings only.” Convenient for them. So I’m already being screwed once. Then they screwed me twice. The cancelled flight vanished from my account entirely. Poof. Gone. No “Change Flight.” No rebooking option. Nothing. Like it never existed. Now? My only option is booking a brand new flight from scratch $4,000+. Let me spell this out: ∙✈️ United cancels MY flight ∙💳 Won’t let me use my credits toward the $500 change fee ∙🗑️ Deletes the cancelled flight from my account ∙💸 Now wants $4,000+ for a completely new ticket They cancelled my flight. THEY did. And somehow I’m the one eating a $4,000+ bill. This is not a mistake. This is a business model. What I’m doing: ∙Filing DOT complaint at airconsumer.dot.gov — airlines are legally required to rebook you or refund you for THEIR cancellations ∙Credit card chargeback ∙Posting everywhere until someone at United explains how this is acceptable If this happened to you, comment below. Let’s make some noise. @United
