People have a real hard time when they criticize an ideology and then they are confronted with historical figures they say they admire who shared that view. People don't know how to act when they hear MLK espoused Democratic socialism.

I admire what Marion Barry did for civil rights while also disdaining what a shit mayor he was. I can admire Angela Davis' civil rights work and abhor that she was a tankie, etc. etc.

@SafeSidewalksDC @Errorreporrt @JHWeissmann Not when someone is parked too close to the intersection, or when driving a larger vehicle, or living outside Hill East and being unprepared for the sharp turn. NGL, I do love riding my bike on that path, but there are substantial trade-offs.

I don't mean this as a broadside against bike lanes in general, but there are definitely places in DC where the traffic redesign involved in putting a bike lane has made driving much trickier and less safe.

Moreover, those bike lanes now force even more traffic onto Constitution Avenue after making North Carolina one-way by Lincoln Park, endangering Maury ES students.

@JHWeissmann Oh come on seriously-only if you are speeding & not paying attention should anyone have any issues there & the speed limit is 20MPH. All approaches to the intersection are narrow (in part because of the PBL) & there are almost always cars parked in the curb lane too.

OK, it's come to this: @DCDPW has now missed trash collection on my street for 4 weeks in a row now. I have talked to customer service people at the department at least 4 times (aside from calling 311). Somehow, nothing is working. What will it take to fix this?
