Convective Outlook - Thursday 14/05 #ukweather SLGT Risk Here we go again. Heavy showers and thunderstorms will trigger across England and Wales from later morning onwards as the same cold upper-level low progresses further south. Heavy downpours, small hail, and gusty winds possible with any cells. Locally frequent lightning possible at times, particularly in the corridors mentioned in the discussion below given the best low-level moisture. Confidence too low for a SVR or higher risk probabilities in any areas.

@oliverek7 To be fair, I’ve absolutely no idea how it didn’t go bang with me - cloud structures looked ideal for it.. Hail showers, biblical rain.. so it was a great forecast 🙏

#ukweather Not a great verification today with a focus shifted further south than anticipated, these cold unstable flows can be tricky. Missed an additional shortwave within the broader trough that likely helped focus activity in the SE, along with an extra degree or two of surface heating under similarly steep lapse rates as further north. ECM runs had actually captured this area quite well.

@oliverek7 Currently in Dunblane, the showers up here are really ramping up in frequency and intensity.. No lightning as yet…
