Convective Outlook - Tuesday 26/05 UPDATE #ukweather High-end ENH (35-40%) Maintaining an ENH risk. Main changes are the introduction of a SLGT for S Ireland given potential activity along a convergence zone here. Additionally, extension of the ENH area further south and west given higher confidence in activity along a convergence zone which may set up along or just south of the M4 and into SW England.

Intense thunderstorm likely producing 1-2cm hail and very gusty winds 45-55mph has developed around the Swindon area in the last hour and is becoming quite intense. Appears to be developing towards the Farringdon and Oxford areas in the next hour or so.

Think we have lightning ⚡ in Sheffield cell

Widespread heat and moisture index of 90+ across SW England, Central Wales, Midlands, W.Country into Pennines and NW England and a gradient near Lincs. Dewpoint depressions lowest across Wales/SW England and across Peak District and Pennines and here is where we are seeing increasing Cu cloud fields. Note dew point depression lower at 11 N of Birmingham an area where increased Cu has been observed in the last hours. Temperatures now widely into the thirties celcius across large parts of England and away from Western-most Wales and dew points 18-20oc across the SW and Wales. No blips on precipitation radar at time of writing 14Z, however it will probably not be too long given increasing cumuliform development in last hour.
