“If you’re 18-64”, “Under 65s will have to” — at this point wouldnt it be easier to, instead of having pensioner carve-outs for every new policy, simply have a two-tier citizenship? Have British citizen refer to over-65s, and call under-65s “British Metic” or somesuch

Important ISA rule changes coming April 2027 (as far as I understand but correct me if wrong). Read this carefully. The total £20,000 ISA allowance stays the same. But if you're aged 18-64 you can only put £12,000 into a Cash ISA. The remaining £8,000 must go elsewhere. There's also a further sting. HMRC will introduce a 20% tax charge on interest earned from uninvested cash held inside a Stocks & Shares ISA. Transfers from Stocks & Shares ISAs into Cash ISAs will also be banned for under 65s. What this means in plain English: → Cash ISA: £12,000 max from April 2027 → S&S ISA: Still £20,000. Untouched. → Uninvested cash sitting in your S&S ISA: Now taxed at 20% on interest earned → Over 65s: Nothing changes The government isn't punishing investors. They're punishing people who use investment accounts as savings accounts. This tax year is the last year you can deposit the full £20,000 into a Cash ISA. If you hold cash in your S&S ISA uninvested. Put it to work before April 2027.

Before being elected MSP for Edinburgh and Lothians East, Q Manivannan – who is a biological male and whose original first name is Srivatsan, but who now uses the pronouns they/them – told party members that they were ‘a queer Tamil immigrant’ from a ‘lower caste’ background.
This qualified them to speak for the ‘working class and marginalised’ because they often went ‘hungry and because I was starved… worked and lied and begged.’
According to a Sunday Times investigation, this account doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. It transpires that Manivannan actually hails from an upper-middle class family in Chennai, one of India’s wealthiest cities.
While the MSP claims to be the descendant of panoply of underworld exotics, of ‘courtesans, dancers, musicians, hunters and prostitutes’, the Green politician’s father reportedly has degrees in chemical engineering and business administration and their mother had a career in academia.
The young Manivannan attended a private school, a private liberal arts and law university, and in 2019 went to work at a consultancy in Delhi which helps the super-rich gain places at international universities. This is all rather awkward for a Scottish Green party that wants to abolish private schools.

I find it hard to believe the author of this ‘analysis’ read that tweet as anything other than an obvious joke. What’s concerning here is I think I know why they included it.
They wanted to use the word ‘waterboard’ in the headline, and knew most people wouldn’t read the article. Duplicitous.

Nicola Sturgeon passed her driving test aged 53. Her schedule and work life had stood in the way of her doing something as normal as learning to drive. Is it really THAT unimaginable that her and her husband had become so distant and estranged that they didn’t “socialise” or go on holiday? If you ask me, this is a tragic state of affairs. The party money was stolen. Not tax payer public funds. Party money. SNP members are the victim of this fraud, but at the heart of the story is a woman who was possibly living in a challenging, and potentially dysfunctional marriage, who was betrayed.
