This dog is owned by Michelle Connolly. She is currently serving a 10 year ban from keeping, owning or breeding dogs having pled guilty to several counts of cruelty to dogs in 2022. The Irish greyhound board's disregard for animal welfare has never been more clearly on display.

It's only a sport when both sides know they are playing. For the hare, this is a life or death run from a pair of predators. Terrorising a wild animal is not Sport.

In every country where commercial #GreyhoundRacing takes place, we see mass overbreeding and abhorrent disposal methods of those unwanted #Dogs. When gambling based profit is based on an animal's life, is it any wonder they become a disposable commodity?

Young Adults are one of the most at-risk groups for #ProblemGambling. Many recovering addicts have similar stories; how exposure to #Gambling as children and the normalisation of it as a "silly night out" or "fun innocent thing to do" was part of their spiral to addiction.

Over the #bankholidayweekend , both hound and hare ran for their lives in #Clonmel. The #Hares have no concept of sport, and run terrified from dogs capable of mauling them even when muzzled. The hounds ran to earn their kennel space, who knows where they will end up...

The #IrishHare is under immense pressure from habitat loss, disease and illegal poaching, yet coursing clubs still receive an exemption from animal protection laws to round up, confine and chase hares across fields for "fun". Seems counter productive to animal welfare no?

@CagesFree Greyhounds are not sent to china for food. That's a xenophobia myth that has been tossed around for years. They are sent as stud dogs, for breeding Grey's for back alley racing. The housing facilities are dire, and the dogs will never know life outside of kennels.
