This type of person will say anything to deflect from the fact that localization has been a massive problem for decades by butchering Japanese media, simply because they enjoy the localizers' poor attempts at humor and/or out of place political inserts that weren't in the original Japanese scripts. The "priority" is faithful translations that adhere to the Japanese source material.

@Gingerblast I would love to play an evil god/civ in a game like this. That would be so much fun. Running a game like this sounds like an incredible experience in general, though. I can't wait to play whatever you release when you do. I might be able to build up a new game group just for it

With each player running a god and civilization in my game, a problem I have is that the game seems to bleed evil players. In the 3 years I've been having players control gods, I lost 4/19 players and all 4 were controlling evil civs and gods. While I lost 4 players at different points (and at least 2 were for reasons unrelated to the game), I've seen others who initially wanted to play an evil god/civ, but ended up buddying up with the good-aligned ones. I love running my game as a war game layered over an RPG, but it seems that the social aspects of the war game make it difficult for players to play evil civs, but their role is among the most important because they are some of the biggest catalysts for conflict. I'm guessing the disparity is because they may feel that everyone in the game is against them and it makes them not want to play aggressively. I'm not sure if I need to specifically give advantages to them in the future or what. I'm thinking I may just need to be clearer with people that playing an evil god is the most difficult and yet most important role. I think this may be a problem also specific to my group because everyone just wants to be friends and respect each others territory despite the incentives for combat!

I have no confidence in this. The souls games are stories told in lore objects and visuals. Hollywood has no ability to tell stories like this. It is unique to video games. This movie will fall short because modern Hollywood has a habit of explaining everything to the audience.

You can't get better if you don't challenge yourself and push your limits. Anybody telling you not to persevere should be ignored. Play the games you want to play, strive to be the best you can be if you want to, play casually if you want to. There is no right way to have fun.

@GrippyN Thank you Grippy! And truth is those are really hard to choose from because I have hundreds of films that I love. I didn't even put any of my samurai epics or 80s cheese movies.

This kind of attitude in translators was exposed last year for the sham and evil that it is. We don't want the translators to "write new stories more befitting a Western audience". We watch foreign films and animation to get a FOREIGN perspective from great creators. Not to see a circle-jerk of weeaboos dumb it down.
