"AI Bro" here. Your show was one of my favorites growing up. The problem is, fewer than a hundred shows per year can be made like this. There are plenty of ethical AI models trained on licensed data. Even Google's models are trained on Youtube, which they have a right to train on. So is your argument against filmmaking being easy? If so, compared to drawing, CGI artists barely "do the work of an artist"; they merely instruct computers via mouse clicks and keyboard strokes. We do the same thing. It's not that AI filmmakers hate cameras or pencils; it's just impossible to make a TV show. I spent 15 years before I made my first one. It cost $2M an episode, and then it got stuck in studio hell for years. It's really admirable that you're fighting for artists, but the reality is that you're fighting for less than 100,000 artists who have the skills to adapt to new film technology just as they have been doing for the last 40+ years. I'm fighting for the 220 million content creators around the world who would never otherwise be able to make films. I'm fighting for the East African film student who could create the next Star Wars, but she doesn't have access to a film community, investors, or anything beyond her $300 laptop. But with AI, she can create anything. We shouldn't be fighting for a broken studio model that never cared about artists in the first place. AI is rock and roll. It is democratized tools, equally distributed. It is a creative revolution. Don't be Billy Graham, decrying that rock erodes our values. Be Elvis. Be the Beatles. Because change is coming whether you like it or not. You can commit AI slop on every post, but it will not get jobs back for your peers and friends. Equipping them with these tools and teaching them to surf the tsunami is the only way old Hollywood will survive. I know it's scary, I know it's disruptive, and the future is unclear, but one thing is certain: We are about to see the greatest explosion in creativity in the history of mankind. Content will 10000x what it is today. From dogshit slop to A5 Wagyu slop and everything in between. Because slop is just a term for these mediocre tools in the hands of untalented filmmakers. But the tools keep getting better each day. Current filmmakers are improving. And traditional filmmakers adapting and joining the ranks of those who do will not let Hollywood decide their destiny. Your rallying cry to resist change dooms your peers who could lead the way for the industry to adapt. You cannot put AI back in pandora's box. Films will never be the same again. We need veterans to lead the change, not gimmicky marketers. We need voices like yours to bridge the quality of the past with the speed of the future. What would 6-year old John think of this technology? Imagine what stories the next generation tell with no barrier to filmmaking. Inspire them as you inspired me when I was a young filmmaker. Be a shepherd of this movement.

Since #AI bros are all showing off things they’ve “made”… I made this. Twenty five years ago, I drew this animation by hand, with pencil, on paper, frame by frame on fours (AI “filmmakers” will have to look up what that means) by slugging the timing (again, look it up) below the drawings, at which point it was handed off to human beings who rotoscoped my animatic (keep researching, guys) with both CGI and traditional/digital tools to make it match exactly what I’d drawn. It took a long time and a lot of work. But I can say “We made this” and there’s no debate to be had. See how that works? #FairlyOddParents #NoToGenerativeAI

Sharing some work in progress on my latest AI short. Here is a rough cut of a dialogue scene where I use Kling 2.6 motion control to capture and transfer my performance to the AI generated characters of both Terry and Carol. No sound design, Carol's voice is just mine pitched up 😝 and I am clearly not a trained actor but I think this gives you a good idea of where we are in terms being able to capture performance and create engaging dialogue scenes with AI tools. I'd usually post the video with an inset of me performing but I did this late last night in my Rick and Morty Oodie with hair like a crazy money, ain't nobody need to see that!

If you’re hunting for a cinematic look in your AI projects, today is a good day for you. In the myths of the Black Forest in Germany, there’s one about a young white lady who lures wanderers with her sad singing. Well, I think she can retire now, because no other reason will be needed for people to come to the Black Forest once they see Flux2. I’ve only had access for a day, but it looked like such an interesting model that after the first few tries I decided to create a short video from the generated images. Every starting image comes from #flux2 , animated with Veo/Hailuo, and edited/graded in Resolve. I’m pretty sure that if you had shown me this video a few years ago, I would have never—ever—thought this would be possible today. Thank you for the opportunity for @andi_blatt from @bfl_ml and @David_Ergin ! Will post some HD stills so you can examine the sharpness and the beautiful grain!

@laszlogaal_ Incredible how far AI capabilities have come in a year. But still need that artist conjuring it up from nothing. Beautiful work.

Yesterday I made this short film-ad for a personal project I’m working on. Used @GoogleAI Flow, @elevenlabs , @grok and @SunoMusic Ai Created the script on one side with a clear idea Music “composed” with specific intent Suno Google Flow produces clips of max 8s so I had to plan this well. Took some time to get the camera controls right, and the positioning. Then with ElevenLabs I turned a simple script into a narrated track. Compiled all in Adobe Premiere Pro and CapCut. Some bits of color grading and done The whole thing took me one hour max.

Talking to people offline is getting harder. It’s not arrogance. It’s dissonance. They’re still clinging to obsolete routines, debating yesterday’s headlines, going through the motions, unaware the world they’re living in already ended. And I’m supposed to make small talk?

Wait Trying to dig myself out of a creative funk, I did my usual: Jumped into MJ and started creating all sorts of images, looking for ones that hit me at a different level. After I found one I loved, I wondered if I could make it into a short tale, matching the same aesthetic/vibe of the original image that affected me so much. Not perfect but close enough.. and it got me out of my funk :) Images brought to life with: @midjourney @Hailuo_AI
