@DirtyHamasnik @Gompers_Stomper @nuqedvest @JPHilllllll Now, does Jesus argue for the abolition of social relations that rely on the extraction of surplus labor? No, even if considering the broad canon that includes a lot of subsequent additions. However, the mendicant nature of his followers, and the holding of common property does

Is the Pope a Marxist? Kinda yeah. Pope Leo isn’t just an anti-Trump avatar. He’s channeling a much richer and deeper tradition of liberation theology to stand against poverty, war, and oppression. It’s an approach a lot of people around the word could learn from. jphilll.com/is-the-pope-a-…

@Cyber_Quaker @AndersCules @Liv_Agar Also (esp in the comments) ignoring that a lot of the red is actually purple. Acting like "well, there are more people in Upstate NY and LI than NYC" (ignoring Buffalo, Westchester, etc) when outside NYC, even on this cherry-picked map it's 55-45 R and in NYC it's 70-30 D.

@AndersCules @Liv_Agar Republicans tend to do it in states that are less blue. She had to purposely use a map of the 2022 governor race to make it look more red

@wokenessucks @Liv_Agar If the cities were so trash, why would the people keep living there? Certainly not for the great deals they get on housing and cost of living.

@kayze4L @Liv_Agar She cherry-picked an off-year governor's election, when the national opposition party almost always does better (and Republicans, especially), and that has knock-on effects for state and local races, plus it was to replace Cuomo, so that probably played a role.

@Dude_lor @mcmansionhell Yes; I think lots of people who don't look too deeply into it, but maybe know about the Turing Test, and have developed a cultural osmosis of what AI is from pop culture, see it and expect it to be like the ship's computer on Star Trek or something.

@RedOxiOxi @mcmansionhell I feel like ppl who aren't all that tapped into technology, but have maybe heard of the Turing Test, or at least have an idea of AI from culture see this and don't think to look into it beyond that. Add onto that the bubble chasing hype men looking for the next iPhone or Facebook

@KrangTNelson And the Iraq war had bipartisan support and eventually bipartisan rejection. The Kerry-Clinton wing of the Democratic Party complained he failed, not that he was wrong. Obama ended up winning on a "drones not boots" platform & then Trump on a similar pseudo-isolationist platform.

You can all call me a joyless hag if you like but I think it's super fucked and crazy that society doesn't have literally a single opinion for nutritionally complete, dirt cheap bottled slop available in every grocery store. Soylent was supposed to be this and failed at it

@wildstwawberry (the standard quoted seven shuffles is based on an idealized shuffle, but outside of maybe like casino dealers or professional magicians, most people aren't that good at shuffling, so an extra couple shuffles are needed in models that account for this discrepancy)

@wildstwawberry I like Pile Shuffling as a way to count my cards to make sure I have all of them (harder to get an off-by-one miscounting error when using multiple piles), but yeah, after that, Riffle or Mash, 8/9/10 times for draft/constructed/commander is the way
