On a random Tuesday afternoon in May 2019, @haharrington dragged me out of my office (kicking and screaming) because for some reason I HAD to attend the algebraic geometry seminar that day.
The speaker was Martin Helmer. I'd never heard of him before and didn't want to go.

I think it's silly to tar an entire field (or worse, academia broadly) based on a single paper. But given this appears to be in a "good" journal (I think), I would be interested in knowing how something like this is viewed by the general field in which it's published

Okay, this new peer-reviewed paper is a contender for the most jargony woke word salad ever. Take a deep breath, and try to make it all the way through. The author uses "cripqueering" in order to "diffract the disidentificatory queering of identity through the postidentitarian urge of neurodiversity" and "argues for an attunement to the relational errantry of neuroqueer becomings-with, autistic perception and autistic voicing as means of provoking generative methodological perspectives that might challenge the compulsory able-bodymindedness embedded in traditional representationalist humanist modes of education and research." Got that?

Seems bizarre; however I’m not an expert in the use of punctuation.

@MMylova No idea, but it looks really weird to me because I use "however" it seems. And they have added a semicolon to every single one

After having received an article proof froma a journal, I need someone to help me find the grammatical rule that says the word "however" cannot be used without a semi-colon. Apparently this is a rule now.
