@GrumpyAgencyGuy

Just a bloke who’s kicked about enough media agencies for long enough to know what’s wrong with this industry.

Apropos of nothing, here’s a list of the types of agency people. They’re in every agency. You work with them, don’t you? Who have I missed? Tag your colleagues 👀🙂 #agency #advertising #media #agencypeople

I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division. We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views. They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.

@paulmasonnews Because Keir Starmer’s a cunt and everyone hates him. Do keep up Paul. If you removed your nose from his rectum once in a while you’d be able to look around and see the carnage.

Let’s do some honest arithmetic. Labour won in 2024 with the lowest vote share of any majority government in British history — around 34%. Turnout was historically low. Millions stayed home. The “landslide” was a statistical accident of a fragmented opposition, not a ringing endorsement. Now, 22 months later, they’ve lost 1,400+ council seats and control of Wales. Starmer talks about responding to “the message the electorate sends.” The message they sent in 2024 was: we don’t want the Tories. The message they sent yesterday was: we don’t want you either. At some point — and that point is now overdue — the Prime Minister has to reckon with the fact that he has never actually won an argument with the British public. He just happened to be standing when the Conservatives collapsed. That’s not a mandate. It never was.

It’s that time of the election cycle where we’re reminded that being a Scottish Nationalist makes you a proud Scotsman and being an English Nationalist makes you a racist. 🤷‍♂️

Some of the replies to this make me incredibly concerned about the levels of anger against small and mid sized business owners who let’s face it employ over 60% of the uk work force. The lack of understanding around basic economics is woeful.
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@PEoperator I bet you’re the sort of person who buys a thank you card to say thank you for a thank you card and then expect a thank you card for your thank you card in return. Where does it end?

@HodgeStuff @whippletom Call it whatever you want - the fee they get for staying somewhere for 24 hours is larger in more advanced economies and would fund all the cheap local taxis they need in 3rd world country on leg 7, is the point

@whippletom “Ish” doing a lot of heavy lifting there. And I think they do not. I like the show. I’ve watched every series. But they are not jobs, they’re locations for revelatory musings on life and the beauty of the country they’re travelling through.

My beef with race across the world: if you think at any point you are going to have to take a job, why not do it in the starting place, which is a high wage economy, rather than waiting until you are in Burkina Faso?

I’m sure we have all now seen the footage of Metropolitan rozzers kicking a suspected terrorist in the head, repeatedly, when he was down. We can all play a part in putting an end to this sort of police brutality. Mainly by not going around stabbing people.
