In two playoff series against the Oilers, the Oilers were more penalized each time. With numerous high sticks, cross checks to the head, too many men, and other obvious Florida infractions going uncalled. Oilers don't score on the 5-on-3...Bouchard hit crossbar, and late in sequence Kucherov comes out of the box and JJ Moser with an unreal lob pass finds Kucherov and he scores on the breakaway. Massive turning point of the game.

@JasonGregor I don’t understand how they can play with so much grit and urgency one game and the game right after all of that just vanishes into thin air. It makes no sense to me.

Team that has beat you twice in Cup Final, has chanted about your best players and chirped them and on home ice in a game you need to win you show up with no emotion and no physicality and now trail after 20 minutes. Not enough grit on this team.

@mister_hiccup @JasonGregor I didn’t get to see the game - worse than normal? Or about the same as their regular amount of diving? I would’ve thought less without Divesaitl in the lineup.

@JasonGregor Hey at least the oilers are diving all over the ice trying to get calls. It takes a lot of energy to constantly pull yourself up off the ice.

@PuckReportNHL I'm coming to the conclusion that NHL players are expected to play too many games at too high a pace against too much grind and grit while suffering nagging hurts. The body just can't recover quickly enough or sufficiently to enable reliably finishing a season.

Here is how I have it figured. The Edmonton Oilers have 14 games remaining. Win 10 and they finish first in the Pacific. Win nine. Finish second. Win eight. Third. Win seven. First wild card. Win six. Second wild card. Win five. Miss the playoffs.
