@TimothyEveland I'm very left-leaning, progressive and I still think the movie is BS. Historical movies, or stories based on certain places shouldn't be race-swapped or changed from the original. They cease to be historical.

@PossumGuy2025 You said it. And the moment you poke fun or complain about "that which shall not be poked fun at or complained about" you become a indecent racist grifter. 😁

@TimothyEveland Spikes on the armor are about as stupid as boob armor. I always thought, that if they're not gonna try to make the design functional, in context of melee combat, why bother wearing it?

This is villain armor done properly! What irks me with spiky villain armor is that if the villain is supposed to be a "genius" then, even in a fantasy world, they should know how impractical it is to have spikes and extra weight all over your armor. It's much easier to get immersed when at least the things that mean the difference between life and death, like keeping armor functional and practical, are taken seriously. The moment I see an "intelligent" fictional character wearing armor that completely defeats the point of wearing armor, of course I immediately lose immersion in the story. Usually other awesome things make up for it though, so it's not a deal breaker, just something to consider if you're trying to keep whiny armor nerds like me immersed. 😆

Laplynn the Lost White-haired and black-veined from forbidden Atribyssal magic, she hunts grotesque arcane beasts in a realm known as the Atribyss. The Arcane Curse causes black crystalline crosses to spread across the body like coarse hair, slowly petrifying the afflicted.

@TimothyEveland Well, empirical experience is, that those in power (lords then, politicians now) are mostly driven by self-interest. This is one thing that has not changed throughout the history. I view the history as a tool to learn from, rather than to romanticize it. You do you, though.

@TimothyEveland Yeah, Nico's work is fantastic. These multi-millionaire corpos don't have an excuse anymore. You can have 'fake' armor look this good, it's simply matter of choice, choice they decided to ignore and give us these monstrosities instead.

Nolan defending the accuracy of Agamemnon’s armor is futile simply because it looks like plastic garbage. It's offensive to even try when thanks to Nico's Printed Antiques we know how real plastic armor can look. This isn't steel. This is 3D-printed armor! #NicosPrintedAntiques

Christopher Nolan is defending the historical accuracy of the armor in #TheOdyssey: “There are Mycenaean daggers that are blackened bronze. The theory is they probably could have blackened bronze in those days. You take bronze, you add more gold and silver to it and then use sulfur… With Agamemnon, Ellen [Mirojnick], our costume designer, is trying to communicate how elevated he is relative to everyone else. You do that through materials that would be very expensive.” (via Time) wp.me/pc8uak-1lHg5Q

@TimothyEveland If someone is making a historical movie, or something inspired by certain locations, they shouldn't just swap the race. Also, I am tired of the doublestandard. Imagine this happened to a black historical figure. Racism is wrong, no matter who is on the receiving side of it.

@elonmusk Why not just focus on making a good movie? Switching the races of famous historical figures merely for the social credit while the bulk of the audience actually finds it silly and offensive is insane. We must never let this become tolerable.

@Battt1812 What is most important to add, is the grey filter. That levels up the realism to the max. *holding up a sarcasm sign*

@TheLybrarian I know. FYI - I'm the last person to say "the old everything was better", but in this case, what we had, offered far wider variety. That's what I am asking for. I don't want every historical or fantasy be all black, grey and a lot of mud.

@John_Reddick It seems like old movies. I know even fairy-tales made in my country, lame story aside, had nicer costumes, compared to what we see now. I ain't exactly for defending the old at all costs, but in this case, we had nicer variety in past.

@KevinLombeesdk Unfortunately, nowadays, all "historical", history inspired and fantasy are shades of grey, black and dirt. I ain't a fan.

@Grumpy_Val Colors? Easy identification of whose side you are on? dont be ridiculous, medival times were shades of grey and no need for FFI everyone could understand whose side and who you are by a glance

@TimothyEveland I can't enjoy historical movies, or even fantasy quite often these days. Knowing things about armor and weapons ruins them for me. Been mostly watching sci-fi nowadays, because my knowledge there is not as deep, and thus is not entirely ruined. The irony. 😅😆

@nonregemesse F*ck no. I won't be watching it at all. They're not even trying with these designs and I have my limits.
