Lots of people messaging me saying octopus has added early exit fees to their fixes. Yes that seems to be a policy change. It's fixes were never that competitive compared to open market, but that (as well as service) was its big sell.
It is of course only for new not existing fixes. The market is in turmoil there are very few cheap fixes left so ultimately this may be a defensive move to keep it's fix relatively (definitely not absolutely) lower. To be fair all companies are playing with their now, mostly paltry, offerings. The market is all over the place.

@ca_scrimshaw Weak argument on the pic you attached. The disclaimers exist for legal protection not because articles don’t have to be factual. Every major publisher has them. They DO NOT mean peer review doesn’t matter, evidence backed standards doesn’t apply an that anything can be published

The timeline in Dame Vera Baird's statement raises some very interesting questions.
Grandstanding McDonald didn't make submissions until May despite submitting expert reports in February. He must have been too busy showboating for the media.
He submitted further submissions in October, on different topics than he said in September.
He sent a report in August, but no submission.
He seems all over the place, doesn't he? Are we certain he's a barrister of over 27 years experience with MoJs and dealing with the CCRC?
I know he has never been successful at the CCRC, but he hardly seems to know what he is doing.
The good news is Letby waived privilege in December, despite being asked to in February.
This is going to get interesting.🍿🍿
