Okay, debating about going public with this, but re: the Trinity/Frank fanfic that spawned a bunch of harassment, I had read, commented and subscribed to the fic before it came down! Here's the email I got when it updated (very close to the day the harassment started):

@CouchCactus68 @WYLDERSSWORD My take is that RE fans being skeptical is perfectly reasonable and people are dying on a hill trying to defend a movie they haven't even seen.

Resident Evil movies don’t need to have the game characters in it to be a Resident Evil movie. Stop complaining

@SuspendedDoll1 Second I saw whatever this is I was like alright man lmaooo again, on its own this will be a good horror movie I’m sure, it just ain’t RE 😭 I’m not even pressed over directly adapting any games, but that’s not this

Zach Cregger imagines his RESIDENT EVIL as taking place during the events of Resident Evil 2. He tells @IGN, "I feel like this movie takes place alongside the events of RE 2. I like to think that everything that's going on in the police station could be happening in this world. This is just another dude on another mission on the other side of town."

I see the vision, but it's not Resident Evil. For a first trailer, my impression is that they're making this into generic indie horror movie, and I know he has a good reputation, but RE is not just about the horror. It's also the campiness and cheese that comes with it.

First look at a freak in Zach Cregger's ‘RESIDENT EVIL’.

Is it like, illegal for directors to make an accurate Resident Evil movie? Not to be all "I could do this better than a trained and proven industry professional with no experience" but I genuinely think I could at least make an accurate RE movie, it doesnt even seem hard to do?
