Dyed some cotton grown in Kingstree, S.C., by a #Gullah #Geechee farmer! It’s for cotton artist and jewelry maker Brother SLAVERY, who’s now based out of Harlem. Such an intense blue produced by the legendary Arianne King Comer!

In 1992, Arianne received the UN/USIS grant to study under the renowned Batik artist Nike Olyani Davis in Oshogbo Nigeria, where her passion for indigo manifested. She was given the Yoruba name of Osun Ronke.

Textile artist Arianne King Comer is an expert on indigo dye and the African technique used to create beautiful, meaningful patterns on fabric. She creates her work in paintings, wearable art, installation art, environmental art, home deco, as well as social justice.
