When a chamber of Congress changes party control (in either direction, this isn't a partisan issue) the committee websites change and it's hard to find older materials. Any efforts to reform this or tips I've missed? @mollyereynolds @kevinrkosar @pahlkadot @librarycongress

@marcidale @2usc138 I was today years old when I knew why the Capitol Dome light is on at night or not. I feel more pressure to get the rough draft of history right for the night law librarian

Don't think I have enough followers for this but: If you could recommend one chapter book/series to read aloud to a six year old what would it be?

@amandalhu When we wrote it, we meant it. Over half still brought gifts. I gave up and started bringing children's books as gifts. Just picked a favorite for each year and gifted that one at all birthday parties unless we knew the child well. Starting Jan 1st, new book.

So is it like a neurodivergent parent rite of passage that your kid gets a birthday party invite that says “No presents please, your attendance is gift enough” and then you show up with just a card and all the other parents brought gifts or

Hard to say this is all about ego if Gaetz is willing to concede on the MTV for these policy ideas suggested by @RoKhanna
Matt Gaetz@mattgaetz

Ok. Let’s negotiate. My GOP colleagues want to raise the threshold on the motion to vacate. This is a question for all of them. If we enact the reforms @RepRoKhanna lays out here…. How high would you like the MTV threshold to be? Because I’ll basically give you whatever you want on the MTV for this stuff 👇

1. This Thursday, Walter Oleszek retires from the Congressional Research Service. He arrived there 55 years ago back when CRS was the Legislative Reference Service.

@_cingraham Our six year old has had an imaginary friend named Maka for some time now. We learned today its a Hawaiian word that means “Eye, eye of a needle, face, countenance; presence, sight, view; lens of a camera.”

Staying at a north woods cabin in the middle of nowhere. In the morning the 6-year-old says “dad. I made a new friend last night.” Me: oh yeah? 6: yeah. She lives under the bed. She helped me fall asleep, and she says she can help you sleep too. Me: 👀

@lobstershift440 @seungminkim Thats my standard. If I can’t get to the exit from 4th floor Rayburn & walk however far I need to (assume two to three miles) I don’t buy the shoes or wear them to the Capitol campus. & yeah, I have some heels that still meet this standard. fewer each year as my 👣 protest more

@seungminkim When the Twin Towers were struck and people were walking down a hundred floors, women interviewed afterward said they'd never wear high heels or any other shoe that wouldn't help them in an emergency.

My (unpopular?) opinion: Being a lawmaker, aide, reporter or a worker on Capitol Hill requires an INSANE amount of walking. So — dress sneakers are ok. (Actual sneakers, obviously, are not.) nytimes.com/2023/05/19/sty…

As someone with a baby who needs to fly with said baby in the near future to see relatives who are a 5.5hr flight away looking at Twitter today has been pretty terrifying.
