@KevinTrainor33 @MattisRedacted Oh no. The European war cost the Europeans more than the Americans?! How could that be? Oh and they didn’t even recognize Japan as part of the war after Germany was defeated. Oh my. We lost nearly as many people as Britain. We owed them nothing. We never will.

@MattisRedacted Today vs then is very different. It's not now you're doing it is it, no, it's 75-80 years ago you did it. Not to mention it still looks unimpressive when you do exchange rate for pounds too right? 30 billion pounds then is 2.18 trillion today or almost 3 trillion dollars

@ArchOfTheLost @MattisRedacted Ah yes because they totally didn’t sack Jerusalem. And they totally don’t have it written into their holy texts. They are just little innocent angels.

The "leave no man behind" doctrine is actually a strategic weakness disguised as a virtue. Name one other military on earth that destroys 6 aircraft and fights a ground battle inside a sovereign nation to recover one pilot. You can't. Because no other military confuses tactical sentimentality with strategic logic. Soldiers serve the mission. The mission doesn't serve the soldier. The US has now established that Iran can shoot down an F-15, then watch America spend $300M and expose Delta Force trying to prove it didn't happen. That's not military doctrine. That's politics with weapons. A military that cannot accept the risk of loss cannot win wars. The US hasn't won one since 1945.
Daniel Foubert 🇵🇱🇫🇷@Arrogance_0024

Lose all this to rescue 1 pilot and call it your greatest military success of all time.

@GusWarren9 @BarnesSMJ @JeffreyLuscombe The Fifth Amendment guarentees, that the government pays for the land, that they force acquire for public purposes (like building roads or rail lines). Yes, they may "take" it, but not without compensation.

@JaguarCat_ @BarnesSMJ @JeffreyLuscombe The argument isn’t that it will be to expensive to buy it it’s that they won’t buy it at all they will take it whether you want to sell it or not. Not to mention it still won’t get done because they will go over budget and stop working on it immediately.

@BarnesSMJ @JeffreyLuscombe Population density along both costs is much higher in the USA then in the middle of nowhere. But of course, the argument will then be, that buying the land required for the train will be too expensive, where pop density is high.

@Xdllr73 @csuwildcat @JeffreyLuscombe California has already shown that you can't easily adapt conventional lines to HSR. Amtrack proves rail is a huge money loss. (1.2 Bil before subsidies and still loses half a Bil)

Usually it plays out as the following: Bad/Stupid person tries to do something bad. Good person pulls gun Bad/stupid person suddenly reevaluates life decisions. 0 shots are fired, nobody is hurt, nobody dies. Police are called. News doesn't give a shit because it's a "boring story" A police report is filled out, but since bad thing didn't happen ultimately there are no charges. The end. That's why stats on these things are so hard to track down, since they largely just get filed and forgotten about. Oh, and sometimes the police responding will file it as they themselves resolving the situation.

What was this crowd intending to do if they got her out of the car? Give her a stern lecture on traffic safety? Or pounce on her by the dozen and kick her head until she fell into a coma? She did what she had to do.

White guy kills a seagull: 8 months in prison Black guy kills a man: misdemeanor, released Black guy kills a pregnant mom and her unborn child: not guilty by reason of insanity, baby doesn’t count as a human Asian woman kills family of 4: probation Red guards in black robes have destroyed the value of justice and life - the purpose of a system is what it does.

This is how to fix voting in a constitutional republic: 1. Only those in mandatory selective service get to vote 2. Pass the SAVE Act and ensure only legal citizens are voting 3. Have at least three years of gainful employment and are currently paying taxes 4. One vote per household, the standard throughout most of human history Those who only stand to gain will always vote for more gain.

@sleepyslim @carter5069 @scrowder Then there’s no point in raising the age. If you apply mandatory sign up for selective service you have no right to say I can’t vote too. If I can be drafted I can vote. You can’t have it both ways.

@GusWarren9 @carter5069 @scrowder No, I would grant voting rights and alcohol purchasing for active military at 18. If you put your life on the line for the country, you get to vote and have a drink.

@GusWarren9 @MattisRedacted Perhaps. Though you seem to advocate a slave state where the government gives you everything... No personal responsibility or agency.

Before the SAVE Act is passed into law, the senate should add an amendment that requires the state to provide you with a certified copy of your birth certificate and marriage license (if applicable) for free upon request.

@lowtide1985 @MattisRedacted That’s a pathetic argument. They pay taxes, same as you so why shouldn’t they get the paperwork. You are acting like you personally will pay for them

@MattisRedacted I see your point. How exactly is it free? For the taxpayers? For once can we stop coddling people like helpless infants. If you can’t get an ID to vote, don’t vote. Simple.

@MattisRedacted No, there’s not ‘multiple other methods’. - photo ID + birth certificate + marriage license or -passport (which has already confirmed the 3 items in #1 above)

@MattisRedacted Dude get off it. Everything costs money. Should it on a fundamental moral level....? Not the issue. The issue is personal responsibility and a free and fair election. Grow up.
