@WSJ @WSJopinion People are a product of their time. To separate people from their historical framework is futile, and to reject them is an effort to censor past violence is a delusive act of virtue signaling,

@Gusdog481 @EWErickson What difference does the date in which you enlist make? Everyone who fights in a war is sent by the policymakers who launch them.

In 1978, a student earning minimum wage during summer could afford to pay a full year's in-state tuition at a four-year public university without going into debt.

Paying reparations is acknowledgement that you’ve lost the war You’re not going to spin that by rebranding it a “reconstruction fund” I hope Trump knows this

@ChaseMadar Adult take, Platner was an adult when he enlisted, the Iraq war was 2 years old, still going and he enlisted. Be an adult and own your decision, he knew then he would probably go to Iraq, don’t want to…don’t enlist. OWN IT like an adult.

“Volunteer enlistees deserve whatever they get” appeals to some otherwise nice people here. But it’s wrong. Soldiers, even the ones who fight bad wars, are people too. They enlist for all kinds of reasons. This is a vile thing for a legislator who sent people to war to say

Senator Collins responds to the scurrilous claim from Graham Platner that she sent him to "die in Iraq." "That was Platner's decision to serve. He was not drafted."

Abdul Carter says he will only address Jaxson Dart introducing Donald Trump one time: "Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things. Jaxson is one of our leaders - he's the face of our franchise. He represents himself and what he does, and he represents all of us. If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it's my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I'm against that, but to show the world. That doesn't mean that we have to spread hate. That doesn't mean that me and Jaxson hate each other or we have beef. I sit next to Jaxson every day - we're close, we talk. As long as we make sure we have the same goal as a team, and our goals align - which they do -that's all that matter. I just want to move past this."

Spoke with a couple from Columbus, OH. They paid $280k for a home in 2020 & that home is now $475,000. They got a 30 year, 3.75% mortgage. They now have 2 kids, need more space but a new home doubles their housing costs. ...They're trapped & millions are in this situation.

One month ago, @AimenDean reported that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei sent a letter that was delivered to Trump with the following 10 demands: -Acknowledge Iran's right to enrich Uranium -Acknowledge that the US was the aggressor -Acknowledge Iran's security jurisdiction over the Strait of Hormuz -Demand withdrawal of all US military presence from the Middle East -Demand reparations -Complete removal of sanctions -Immediate unfreezing of funds -Complete suspension of UN International Atomic Energy Agency inspections -Hezbollah and other proxies will not disarm and will remain important allies to Iran -Guarantees from both the US and Israel that there will be no more wars of aggression against Iran Basically telling Trump to surrender...a big middle finger It's why I'm extremely skeptical of the current negotiations, Iran's good will in negotiation and ultimately whether the deal would be worth the paper it's written on So we still don't know exactly who the US is negotiating with beyond the Pakistani intermediaries We don't know if those people are in charge and have the buy-in of the IRGC or Mojtaba Khamenei I don't see anything in the past month that would have changed the position of somebody who wrote this letter So even if Trump does agree to a deal with Iran, it's not at all clear how much that will even matter once the Islamist hardliners weigh in
Iran International English@IranIntl_En

A source close to the Tehran-Washington negotiations told Iran International there are doubts over whether Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and the Islamic Republic’s negotiating team are fully coordinated with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. The source said there were serious ambiguities over how much Khamenei knows about the talks and the extent of the negotiating team’s understanding with the Trump administration. Ghalibaf and Araghchi’s recent trip to Qatar, coupled with the negotiating team’s reluctance to go to Pakistan or continue talks in Tehran, has deepened questions over who is coordinating the process inside the Islamic Republic, Information received by Iran International indicates iranintl.com/en/202605283264

Funny. We currently have a *youth* employment crisis just as we did in 2008 and now, as was the case then, your Boomer ass can't be bothered about young people who you think aren't owed a living wage, affordable housing, Healthcare or education. Instead it's all about YOU.
John Owen@dreamingElvis

@ljmontello Where is the expanding job market for elderly people? Would you hire an older person and pay them a living wage? Would you pay the employer taxes? Do any of the taxes make sense if they’re on SS and Medicare? Or is it just a charade? Or perhaps you’re the kind of socialist who prefers we just do away with “useless eaters” so they won’t be a burden to society?

It's insane that we're constantly having this conversation about whether kids should be allowed in restaurants etc, meanwhile people bring their dogs everywhere. We now live in a society where dogs are more welcome in public than human children. It's psychotic.

For most of humanity, parents strove to put their kids in a better place than them to whatever degree possible. Boomers are kinda unique in not feeling any obligation to those after you.
Danny Laurent@laurentdanny8

@ljmontello So they are just suppose to save their whole life and not enjoy things with the money they earned so that they can pass it on to you? Then what, do you get to spend it or do you have to add it to all your extra money and pass it on to your kids? Does anyone ever get to use it?
