Spin Displacement + Virtual Z = efficient Qudit control ! Liz Champion, Zihao Wang and Ray Parker designed a transmon chip and demonstrated coherent control & readout of up to 8 states. We like to think of the system as an effective spin-7/2 arxiv.org/abs/2405.15857
