@VoiceoverCop @ASKaTrafficCop Distributing speeding ticket should not be a job for police officers making 6 figure incomes. It is more efficiently handled by cameras with added benefits of leaving no margin for racial/income profiling, no congestion from stopped cars on the road and no informal discretion.

Why aren’t there cops on the highways when people are doing 60 or 70? This question came up during the March 11 #ASKaTrafficCOP After Dark livestream, and I had to clarify something first… Do you mean 60 or 70 km/h total, or 60 to 70 over the speed limit? Because those are two completely different problems. If you’re talking about 60 to 70 km/h on a highway, that’s dangerously slow. If you’re talking about 60 to 70 over the limit, that’s extremely dangerous speeding. Either way, the bigger issue is this: There aren’t enough officers on the road to catch everything. Highway enforcement depends on available resources, and officers are balancing collisions, calls for service, and proactive patrol. That means not every dangerous driver gets stopped, even when they should. That doesn’t make it okay. It just reflects the reality of staffing and priorities. I’ve always believed we need more officers focused on traffic safety, with an emphasis on: • Enforcement that changes behaviour • Education through enforcement • Preventing collisions before they happen Because the goal isn’t just tickets. The goal is safer highways. If you’ve got questions about traffic law, policing, or road safety, join me during the livestream or drop your question in the comments. My name is Sean Shapiro, a former police officer, and I talk about traffic safety, traffic law, and police stuff. Follow the channel and join the conversation. #HighwayDriving #TrafficSafety #Speeding #SlowDrivers #Police #Ontario @diamond_lawyers @AccountantTI @ASKaTrafficCop

@CVC_CA I rarely see private homeowners over salting. Cities and transit authorities on the other hand .... Peel and Caledon respectively used 24,000 and 11,000 tons. This is the respective weight in salt of a battleship and a heavy cruiser that go into rivers, every year.

@JoeHorneck @JamesRRubec @citymississauga Reviewing the schedule to confirm my previous statement. Weekdays at Rivergrove are fully occupied by Adult leisure swim (16+). This leave no weekday access for families or younger swimmers. Our community deserve more inclusive programming.

@GuyColson1 @JamesRRubec @citymississauga We haven't tied our programming to school PD days. Maybe we can try to but that would mean bumping weekly programs people pay for to create that space. That's not a great user experience either. Public and Separate school often have different days which complicates.

Hey @citymississauga we need a fun swim at 9 a.m. for us early risers and our kiddos! Right now your family swims during the weekends all land at naptime. My two year old loves to swim but there are no other times. @JoeHorneck Food for thought!

@cmcdonaldglobal Walking/cycling with kids to school daily. Some school bus drivers are worse than parents. Running stop signs, passing kids on bike too close and stopping ahead of them right after, forcing their way through while traffic guards are waiving their sign at them...that's insane.

@JoeHorneck @JamesRRubec @citymississauga On another "note", loud music during Fun swim sessions is completely unnecessary. Best swim sessions are when staff forgets to put it on. I see why Families are rejected if General Admissions results for others to be exposed to amplified noise. Swim is still fun without music.

@JoeHorneck @JamesRRubec @citymississauga There should be an access to the general public at least once a day. Municipal pools are too often privatized by private swimming school (good weekend slots in particular), and the rest of the weekday schedule is designed to exclude casual swimming and families.

@JoeHorneck @JamesRRubec @citymississauga Rivergrove. Tried to go there during a PD day. Found out there was not a single time slot when kids were accepted in the pool that day. This is discriminatory programming.

@JamesRRubec @citymississauga Hey James. Good observation. I can ask staff to look in the next season of programming. Usually they set times about 6 months into the future. My littlest guy is now 4 but working around nap time does dominate family lives for those early years. Thanks for the suggestion.

@citymississauga Good initiative. We were curious and about to visit this home after skating at Celebration Square. However the sign "ReMax - Agent on Duty" scared us away. Please just have a sign that says "Open" or "Closed".

Calling all home design show fans! Here's your chance to tour a Tiny Home in real life at Mississauga's downtown Celebration Square. Habitat for Humanity is offering tours of their studio-sized unit built by area high school students. Tiny Homes - also known as garden suites - are allowed in Mississauga but City approvals and permits are needed before you can move forward. After your tour, talk to Habitat staff to get more information about how these homes are built and if a Tiny Home is right for your backyard. Want to check it out? Tap the link bit.ly/4u51349

When clearing sidewalks, the City’s plow operators try to avoid sod damage as much as possible, but unfortunately, some sod damage may still occur. Why it happens: - Grass has overgrown onto the sidewalk. - Wet sod is easily torn. - Deep snow can hide sidewalk lines from the operator. - Parked vehicles & landscaping can force operators onto the grass to avoid hitting the obstacle. You can report sod damage to 311 or online: bit.ly/48lDBFt

@VoiceoverCop @ASKaTrafficCop Very clear. I would add that we should start crushing cars, similar to what they seem to do in Australia. Ballistic missiles should not be let roaming free on our roads and streets.

What happens if you drive 50 km/h over the speed limit in Ontario? In this clip from the March 11 #ASKaTrafficCOP After Dark livestream, I explain exactly what happens when someone is caught going that fast and why the consequences are so serious. Driving 50 km/h over the limit is considered stunt driving under Ontario law. That means immediate roadside penalties before you even see a courtroom. In this video we talk about: • Immediate roadside licence suspension • Vehicle impoundment • Court consequences if convicted For a first conviction, the penalties can include: • $2,000 to $10,000 fine • 1 to 3 year driving prohibition • Up to 6 months in jail And the penalties get even more serious for repeat offences. Something many drivers don’t realize is that 50 over is not the only way to be charged with stunt driving. In some speed zones, 40 km/h over the limit can also qualify, and there are several other behaviours that can lead to the same charge. If you have questions about traffic law, policing, or road safety, join me during the livestream or leave your question in the comments. My name is Sean Shapiro, a former police officer, and I talk about traffic safety, traffic law, and police stuff. @UrbanCourtyard You may want to check out the newer residential neighbourhood located next to La Defence, Les Faubourg de l'Arche. You may like it. I lived there while I was working in a tower and could walk from home to the office in a pedestrians area while crossing only one street.

Where would Paris be without La defense (IDF)? Potentially a lot lower commercial vacancy rates! The central business district (Haussmann parish) has famously very low vacancy rates and very high rents. The office towers have been losing value like they have been here. Many of them are being recycled at great cost into housing. “Users prefer fewer but better-located spaces, with increased attention to comfort, environmental certification, services, and transport accessibility. Structural”

Where would Paris be today without La Défense? It'd become a museum city like Vienna.

When we lived on the 18th floor of this building, the thermal regulation issues caused by glass facade drove me crazy. But even if it had been clad in stone, it would not have worked for us because units obviously lack direct access to safe outdoor space for little kids

A timely read! Apartments with all glass facades are bad for the environment, and occupants’ health (even if they have a high star rating!) afr.com/property/resid…

Winter conditions are rough on your vehicle, and you never know if a breakdown is coming. Always keep an emergency kit in your car when you travel long distances, just in case: - Blankets - Charged power banks - Flashlights - Warm clothes See more safety tips at bit.ly/44FgaWA

Just saw a woman (with a baby in a stroller and a toddler in tow) tumble on a neighbour's sidewalk. Luckily, it's likely just a bruising. But it prompted a shovelling/ice-chopping session, during which I wondered if @cityoftoronto has fined anyone for uncleared sidewalks lately.

@insauga Should be only applied to the tax bills of single detached homes (similar to the stormwater fee). Condo owners / Resident from multiple units buildings shall not have to subsitize a service that only benefit single detached homeowners.

@insauga Will there be trains bypassing Square one and the Loop? If not, there is no point to stop driving for people living north of Square One (i.e. Eglinton / Bristol) and commuting from Cooksville GO. The LRT should be faster and more frequent than bus line 103.
