The Bible in Context controversy is worse than suspected yet not surprising; especially finding out weeks ago Parick O'Brien education is in marketing. He doesn't care about faith; he loves money. I expect him to continue without even addressing the fraud; even if he gets sued.

@Brosephos @Cath_SteelMan Worth noting he also does not deny here he is not in fact a scholar, but only states that Catholics wouldn’t accept any education or title that wasn’t strictly Catholic. That’s the other accusation.

Calling yourself a Bible Scholar when your only qualification is you know a lot about Scripture and then charging people for a service is massively dishonest. - No Thesis or Dissertation exp - No peer reviewed publications - No Ph.D - No Formal Greek, Latin, German/French training - No paleographic training You cannot claim to be a scholar…PERIOD.
The Bible In Context@BibleInContext1

I've become aware of several false accusations being spread about me and this ministry. This is nothing new and unfortunately something that has become all too common among many Catholics online who cannot defend their beliefs. I’ve been falsely called a Jew. I have been accused of never being Catholic in attempt to discredit my testimony. I am accused of not being a Bible scholar in an attempt to discredit my teaching credentials. However the fact is that these hate filled Catholics wouldn’t accept any level of academic credentials, if the individual is not a Catholic. Rather than engaging with the biblical, historical, and theological arguments presented, certain critics have resorted to to attacking my character, questioning my motives, and attempting to discredit me through insinuation, speculation, and guilt-by-association arguments that prove nothing. It is easier to smear a messenger than to answer his message. It is easier to create suspicion than to refute facts. What’s even more revealing is the number of larger Catholic influencers who will do zero research into the claims before presenting them as facts in an attempt to damage a persons credibility. I do hope that these same Catholic influencers do a better job when it comes to researching their church’s history and teachings. It seems that these Catholics have not read in their Catechism paragraphs 2464, 2475-2477 where it states: CCC 2464: The eighth commandment forbids misrepresenting the truth in our relations with others. This moral prescription flows from the vocation of the holy people to bear witness to their God who is the truth and wills the truth. Offenses against the truth express by word or deed a refusal to commit oneself to moral uprightness: they are fundamental infidelities to God and, in this sense, they undermine the foundations of the covenant. CCC 2475: Christ's disciples have "put on the new man, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” By "putting away falsehood," they are to "put away all malice and all guile and insincerity and envy and all slander.” CCC 2476: False witness and perjury. When it is made publicly, a statement contrary to the truth takes on a particular gravity. In court it becomes false witness. When it is under oath, it is perjury. Acts such as these contribute to condemnation of the innocent, exoneration of the guilty, or the increased punishment of the accused. They gravely compromise the exercise of justice and the fairness of judicial decisions. CCC 2477: Respect for the reputation of persons forbids every attitude and word likely to cause them unjust injury. He becomes guilty: of rash judgment who, even tacitly, assumes as true, without sufficient foundation, the moral fault of a neighbor; of detraction who, without objectively valid reason, discloses another's faults and failings to persons who did not know them; of calumny who, by remarks contrary to the truth, harms the reputation of others and gives occasion for false judgments concerning them. Also canon 1390 #2 & 3 of the Catholic Code of Canon law: Can. 1390—§ 2. A person who calumniously denounces some other offence to an ecclesiastical Superior, or otherwise unlawfully injures the good name of another, is to be punished according to the provision of can. 1336 §§ 2-4, to which moreover a censure may be added. §3. The calumniator must also be compelled to make appropriate amends. For those who don’t know; Calumniously is an adverb meaning to act, speak, or write in a way that is false, slanderous, and intended to damage someone's reputation (See Part 2 continued👇🏼)

@TaylorRMarshall I say no because Rome is saying that regardless of what the SSPX leadership say, Rome is saying it is not in communion with the SSPX.

If the SSPX is excommunicated in July, will they still be in communion with the Catholic Church?

When the Roman Mass was translated from Greek into Latin in the 4th century, they decided NOT to translate the ninefold “Kyrie eleison” (Lord have mercy) into Latin but to keep it as Greek. Same for Aramaic/Hebrew words like Sabaoth and Amen. These were intentional “language anchors.” I think the same argument could be made for the Novus Ordo. The Kyrie should stay Greek. Gloria, Pater Noster, Agnus Dei etc should stay Latin. This is clearly the intention of the Fathers at Vatican 2. Agree or disagree? PS: My personal preference is pre-1951 Roman Rite in Latin with established “language anchors” (e.g., Greek Kyrie).

There is a sin in not attending Sunday Mass, since it is the highest form of worship and we are obligated by God to worship Him. The only question is whether or not the Church herself can bind consciences to this, which she can and does. God gave her the authority to do so, not baptists.

@FrMatthewLC @ChristopherHale There is no "sin" in the matter even if you skip the Catholic stuff. I attend a Southern Baptist church - there is no requirement to also attend a Catholic Church. If I'm wrong, please point me to the Biblical passage that requires Catholic Church attendance. I'll wait...

@breeadail @RealCandaceO Traditional rite of confirmation doesn’t revolve around Easter. I was confirmed in September of 2020. Yes we do pick and choose when to receive that sacrament that’s literally how a conversion works. Stop trying to play canon lawyer. It will not end well for you.

“TRAD” CAFETERIA CATHOLICISM: Picking and choosing how and when you receive the Sacraments? So @RealCandaceO was baptized two years ago at the London Oratory, were the priests aware she would take two years to enter the Church as a candidate? Canon 866 is pretty clear on this. She reportedly attends the Latin Mass, but for some reason did not receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in her diocese this Easter with the rest of the Candidates and Catechumen, but randomly in Rome? Is she even confirmed in the Church, or is this a SSPX/Sede thing? Does Canon 866 and Canon 887 not apply to “influencers”? (Let alone…proper disposition—which would preclude near-daily public libel)

@BeSaintly I disagree that the NO was a return to tradition. Wasn’t the point of the liturgical reform.

@EamonnClark I have a question about the Latin Mass one. Does this mean that the traditional Roman Breviary is better than the Liturgy of the Hours in your view? Or if the Divine Office matters for the laity as well?

@WalmartThomist You might as well still be a Protestant with this kind of thinking. One of the main differences prots and Catholics have is the elevation of women. Prots end up being pseudo Muslim bc they do not reverence the feminine like Catholics do.

@WalmartThomist Christian, Western men do not have as their tradition the subjugation of women. That is an arena for Muslims and Mormons and guys like Andrew Tate. Imagine Saint Jospeh holding this crude and belittling attitude about the Blessed Mother.

None born under the Old Covenant are greater than John the Baptist due to him being the one to prepare the way of Christ. Yet this glory is not as great as those who enter into the kingdom of heaven by way of Christs sacrifice due to having grace that comes from Christ, something the OT saints did not have.

The logic is not hard. Jesus is king, and Mary is His mother. Therefore, Mary is queen. No Protestant should see an issue with this. Mary is the queen of heaven. Even Martin Luther was fine with this title, “It is necessary also to keep within bounds and not make too much of calling her “Queen of Heaven,” which is a true-enough name and yet does not make her a goddess who could grant gifts or render aid…” (Luther’s Magnificat).

Pope Leo XIV at Mass in Bamenda, Cameroon: “Obey God, not human beings.  To obey Him, because He alone is God.  This calls us to foster inculturation of the Gospel.  It also calls us to be vigilant, even regarding our own religious practices, so as not to fall into the trap of mixing the Catholic faith with other beliefs and traditions of an esoteric or Gnostic nature, which in reality often serve political and economic ends.  Only God sets us free; only his word opens paths to freedom; only His Spirit makes us new people capable of changing this country.”
