@GadSaad The book is way better than the well made but empty film that Kubrick made of it. All the psychological complexities were removed, and thus the narrative lost both sense and continuity.

@CarloDallapicc1 @GDMLosB Polanski did make a shining film. It's called The Tenant (1976).
English

@GDMLosB Polanski would've made a great Shining film, more faithful to the book. But I love Kubrick's film as a Kubrick creation.

Ford or Reeve might've worked better. The novel's Jack Torrence is a solid, sane guy who gradually loses his grip. Nicholson, as much as I love him, is halfway there from the first shot.

In casting Jack Torrance, Kubrick considered Robert De Niro, Robin Williams, Harrison Ford and Christopher Reeve. He cast Jack Nicholson and said he’s “perhaps on a par with the greatest stars of the past like Spencer Tracy and Jimmy Cagney.” 10/34

Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East as Mormon missionaries attempt to convert a reclusive Hugh Grant in Heretic.
That is a personal challenge that I've struggled with for a very, very long time.
You know, what is the one true religion?

@EthnicIrishman I think only 2 minutes were cut by Kubrick. And yes, it did shine a light on some very dark corners.
English

@GxJain Is it true that 15 minutes was deleted from the movie, the 15 minutes that shines a light into a dark corner?

@quite1enough Speaking of Kubrick. I finally watched Dr Strangelove for the first time with my family last night. Shit was funny lol

@AliaaisAnxious No one understands women and appreciates women more than Kubrick. No one.
