@GadSaad The book is way better than the well made but empty film that Kubrick made of it. All the psychological complexities were removed, and thus the narrative lost both sense and continuity.

Ford or Reeve might've worked better. The novel's Jack Torrence is a solid, sane guy who gradually loses his grip. Nicholson, as much as I love him, is halfway there from the first shot.

Stanley Kubrick gave Milena Canonero her fist job in films as Costume Designer in A Clockwork Orange (1971). She went to work with him in Barry Lyndon (1975) and The Shining (1980).
