renting an apartment in vietnam takes one afternoon, one viewing, one cash deposit.
i found my current place by walking around neighborhood, knocking on doors with “for rent” signs.
visited 3 places in 2 hours, signed for the best one same evening. one month deposit, no credit check, no payslips, no guarantor, no 30 page contract.
renting in london or paris requires 3 months of payslips, employer references, guarantor with property, sometimes 12 months rent paid upfront. process drags 4 to 8 weeks.
western bureaucracy was sold as protection.. real outcome turned into gatekeeping that locks young people out of housing while landlords sit on empty units.
vietnam trusts people first, sorts paperwork later 🇻🇳

just moved into my new spot for a few weeks here in vietnam 🇻🇳 place stays small but more than enough to lock in. view from window is really cool, rooftop pool on top of building looks even better (i’ll show you that one later) little game for fun: drop your guess for monthly rent of this apartment in comments. closest answer wins a pixelated gift from me :) hint: you’d cry if you knew what same place costs in any western capital.
