@NotRichYoungFa1 @BBCPolitics @DesmondSwayne Without sufficient protest or pushback, the likelihood is that similarly Draconian, poorly targeted legislation - sans due process including impact analysis, can be muled past parliament. THAT is the relevance of the #LoanChargeScandal, even to those not involved. Who's next?

As I've said repeatedly in @yorkshirepost it's vital that Public Accounts Committee launches an investigation into #loancharge scandal...@loanchargeAPPG
Loan Charge & Taxpayer Fairness APPG@loanchargeAPPG

Thanks to #LoanCharge & #TaxpayerFairness APPG members @sarahjolney1 & @SarahGreenLD for raising the #LoanChargeScandal in the #PublicAccountsCommittee evidence session today. As usual, no proper answers from senior #HMRC officials & no meaningful information on ongoing costs.

Earlier this year, I set out plans to modernise the civil service - rewarding high performers, and strengthening accountability for those who fall short. Now, for the first time ever (!), pay rises for senior civil servants will be linked to performance - including the delivery of our political priorities.

The Government has introduced performance related pay for senior civil servants for the first time. Recognising and incentivising staff who deliver for the public. gov.uk/government/new…

@donedgley1 @MayorofLondon @Dan4Barnet @UKLabour Trust Govt to be Govt. Just don't trust what comes out of their mouths, without knowing the fine detail. And which party is in power matters little, with longer agendas in play. While an Opposition party has nothing to lose by hypnotically repeating mantras you want to hear...

The #McCannReview is Deliberately biased, restricted and flawed and doesn't resolve the #LoanCharge debacle. @UKLabour broken promises 67000 victims 11 Suicides @Dan4Barnet @Keir_Starmer @RachelReevesMP #LoanChargeScandal

#LoanChargeScandal latest: @Dan4Barnet claimed he wanted to engage with us, but actually just wants us to tell members to settle. The Govt is refusing to understand why the #McCannReview will fail to resolve thousands of cases so we’ve laid this out. hmrcloancharge.info/wp-content/upl…

It was great to be interviewed yesterday by @telegraph @journomadeleine about my experience with HMRC, and hope the update on my story is published in the not too distant future. Talking about HMRC's case of #mistakenidentity still upsets me, so I am fully cognizant of what other victims of state overreach and injustice go through. @DavidDavisMP Completley agree, I am glad the issue around HMRC treatment of citizens and frankly bullying tactics is coming to light. I have lived abroad and dealt with various tax authorities, HMRC's treatment of people is far from 'fair', astounding levels of harassment of normal people.

Thank you so much David for sharing this update on my ordeal with HMRC, which I have captured in my #memoir #ginoscontraband. Anyone who has been falsely accused by HMRC or who have spent hours and days on the phone desparately trying to get through to someone who will help and not hang up, this story is for you, though it should come with a trigger warning. it won another literary award just this week. amazon.co.uk/Ginos-Contraba…

The lax treatment of Angela Rayner by HMRC has brought into focus how arbitrary the tax authority can be in its treatment of ordinary citizens. Too often, HMRC has pursued individuals and small businesses for vast sums of money in error. HMRC are masters of using process as punishment, making themselves increasingly difficult to contact while torturing people with demand letters and bankruptcy notices. Victims of these errors are often forced to spend huge amounts of time and money to prove HMRC wrong. This sometimes runs to hundreds of thousands of pounds in legal fees, many times the actual amount in dispute. They also find their names and details published in a list of deliberate tax defaulters, in effect a "name and shame" list. I have to question whether this meets citizens' privacy rights, since these do not appear to be court rulings but HMRC opinions. HMRC's excesses must be brought under control. It is time ministers took a grip of this. telegraph.co.uk/money/tax/news…

Starmer’s just appointed James Murray as the new Health Secretary the man now running the entire NHS. And this is how he defines a woman when a actual woman challenges him: Woman: “Do you think it’s a bit strange that you’re a man telling me, a woman, what a woman is?” Murray: “I think a woman is an adult female and a trans woman.” Woman: “An adult female… and an adult male?” Murray: “You and I disagree on this.” Let that sink in. The bloke in charge of women’s wards, maternity care, single-sex spaces, rape crisis services, and NHS safeguarding can’t or won’t admit that women are adult human females. Full stop. This isn’t nuance. It’s dangerous ideological capture at the highest level of healthcare. How the hell is he going to protect women’s rights and safety when he thinks biological males can be women? This appointment is a disgrace. Women’s health and dignity are not up for debate or “disagreement.” We’re watching you, Secretary Murray. Closely.
