Italy activated its crisis unit after Israeli forces intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla just 150 nautical miles off Crete. Around 175 activists were detained across 22 boats, including 24 Italian citizens. Meloni called this unlawful and demanded their immediate release, in another sign of tension between the two countries.
