The concept of "teenager" is a modern invention. For most of human history, a boy of 13 was already a man, apprenticed in a trade or fighting in a war. George Washington was a professional surveyor at 16. Alexander Hamilton managed a trading company at 14. In medieval Europe, noble boys could be pages at 7 and squires by 14. In Rome, a boy put on the "toga of manhood" at 14. The idea that an 18 year-old is "still figuring things out" would have been incomprehensible to our ancestors. I believe this is why we think teenagers are so troubled. They are men and women stuck in a society that treats them as children. Of course they are going to "rebel". We should give them more responsibility and expect much more of them.

Assuming these people were at the restaurant for 2 hours A $60 tip means this server made $30/hour off this ONE TABLE Is that not enough for a waiter to make? Does being a waiter really need to be a $150/hour job? The entitlement behind a lot of tipping culture is insane

@TheLaurenChen The server has to tip out the bartender, busser, food runner, and used to have to pay taxes on those tips. They keep about half of a tip. So she only pockets about $30 of that $60. If you leave zero tip, it literally costs them money to serve you.

The job you held five years ago and the age of your dog have absolutely nothing to do with your suitability as a tenant. That’s why we’re bringing in a simple, standard application form for all rentals. Renters are regularly asked to provide excessive amounts of information on their applications. Financial statements detailing spending habits. Contact information for past employers. It’s unnecessary, it’s a waste of time, and if it causes you to miss out on a house, it's unfair. So we're changing it. One simple, standard form, making it easier for renters.
