Google DeepMind has unveiled Gemini Deep Think’s leap from Olympiad-level math to real-world scientific breakthroughs with their internal model "Aletheia", scoring up to 90% on IMO-ProofBench Advanced and tackling PhD-level problems with scalable reasoning power! "Aletheia" autonomously solved open math problems (including four from the Erdős database), contributed to publishable papers, and helped crack challenges in algorithms, economics, ML optimization, and even cosmic string physics. 2.5 years ago chatbots werent even able to solve simple math problems. "We are witnessing a fundamental shift in the scientific workflow. As Gemini evolves, it acts as "force multiplier" for human intellect, handling knowledge retrieval and rigorous verification so scientists can focus on conceptual depth and creative direction. Whether refining proofs, hunting for counterexamples, or linking disconnected fields, AI is becoming a valuable collaborator in the next chapter of scientific progress."

Okay, can I do a long post for once? Here's my rant. I have to admit it's a bit weird being me. I'm working with a fantastic group of folks, but sometimes I get a serious question “Wait, you're making code changes to @geminicli as the product lead? But you have engineers... don't you have some sort of better things to do, you should just write up your strategy or something” I admit, on paper this was (mostly) true a few years ago, and for me, it is still true for backend changes (I'm not messing with Google Infra) or complex cross-functional stuff with nobs and CLs, like capacity management. I'll stick to writing my docs (with Gemini's help). But I'm trying to successfully contribute to the vision of an AI coding agent that happens to be open source. I must live in this world in all ways... I have to use my own product I have to use all our competitors I have to test all the models I have to keep up with the latest news and innovations and well man... it helps to touch my own product's code. I learn so much. I help a little. Call it right or wrong, but I believe it would be insane for me not to be an active contributor across the board, that means PRs too. For added effect, it's also an open-source freaking project. Technical Staff is the way to go for folks like me long-term, I really believe this. My vote! be like me. And please, support folks like me. If you're a SWE, forgive my imperfect PRs but embrace the velocity we can have together if this all works out. This is going to be fun.

This update is huge! 🤯 As a parent I'm constantly juggling multiple balls (and apps). I asked @GeminiApp when my twins' next gymnastics class was (Calendar), then immediately asked for the latest guidance on moving them up a level. It checked (Gmail), found the info on moving up from "Rug Bug," and linked me directly to the email so I could open it and respond. ​Cleared a nagging back-of-mind to-do instantly. Congrats to the Gemini team on this amazing launch! 👏
