@russtxy @TfL @metpoliceuk @MayorofLondon @BBCLondonNews Quite embarrassing going past with punters. London from the outside must seem great, Tower bridge, Big Ben etc. Reality is we’ve got people shitting in buckets and living in tents not 500 yards away from Buckingham palace. Lovely.

Why has a new tent city (probably the same people) been allowed to develop at the southern end of Park Lane @TfL @metpoliceuk @MayorofLondon @BBCLondonNews

@PaulParklane Back to “it’s who we are mate” getting thumped 4-1 at home yesterday though. Spursy

The more spurs celebrate this thing the more tissues are needed for gooners crying about us being in the champions league for coming 17th... its absolutely wonderful stuff .. a wet dream if you will...

@michaelblackcab @KnackeredStew Yeah I’d go in just cos it’s a better rate. Kids are on half term so have a day off tomorrow when it’s charity rate till 8pm. Can’t say it amazes me someone makes a choice to possibly earn better money that’s all.
English

@HJamiew @KnackeredStew It’s a bank holiday, children, partners & wives are not at school & work. If you could afford to have the day off if it was rate 1 are you really going to go in just because it’s rate 3 ?
How much more do you think you’re going to make over rate 1 ?
English

@michaelblackcab @KnackeredStew So it amazes you a driver might chose to work when there’s a chance it pays better?.
English

@KnackeredStew It amazes me that any driver would come in just because of the rate.

This article should be renamed "Secrets from a Doom & Gloom Merchant"
I've read some absolute tosh from cabbies over the years, and this is definitely up there with most of the trade harming bollocks I've laid eyes on.
To start the article with "Our salaries have fallen £15,000" already tells me that this cabbie is out of touch with the reality of the trade. That cabbie being a certain LCDC rep, Mark White. Can't say I'm surprised.
He goes on to claim that our net pay is in the region of 25-30k - do you honestly believe we would be doing 3 years on the KoL for a 25k job? No. We don't, and it's simply not true.
Since Mark is happy to share his lazy mans' takings - allow me to share mine. I have never failed to make a net profit of less than £50k in any of the 3 full tax years I've been operating. And I am nowhere near some of my peers who I studied the Knowledge with. I have a young family who I spend huge amounts of time with, and I'm still able to earn a healthy living. I would class myself as lazy, just not as lazy as Mark, it seems.
This may be Mark's reality, but it is not the reality throughout the trade. This job is what you make it. He has chosen to make it a 25k job by sitting at the port for 5 hours tweeting rubbish about the trade, promoting a van as a taxi, and generally harming our future with his words and actions.
This portrayal of our profession through mainstream media does nothing to benefit our longevity and needs to stop. NOW!
You've had your 33 years out of this trade and now you want to ruin it for the boys and girls who just want a better life for them and their families. You're nothing but a miserable old dog. If you feel so strongly about your words, perhaps it's time to retire.

@TootlestheTaxi @GaryLDN Funny how when it suits the agenda the electric range doesn’t matter. When the TXE first come out the “we hate M&O brigade” was losing their shit over the “inadequate” plug in range.
English

@GaryLDN That’s your opinion and your choice if you ever get a choice.
It’s actually got a bigger petrol tank so given the cost of charging and the ‘woefully inadequate’ infrastructure you’ll probably rely more on fuel than electric.
English

@PaulParklane I did it one year mate when the kids were little. It was like being in a Hale and Pace sketch. One bloke had his badge on and his money bag under his arm and two cabbies were practicing their golf swings outside the reptile house.
