@HMSTerror_model @MrBoatman1845 At that point I'd been blocked by you for years, after in our initial exchange me & two others merely pointed out that the word 'authorised' is not open to interpretation. This we did in a polite manner, but you took offence. We definitely didn't mean to offend.

@MrBoatman1845 He didn't understand the word "authorised" in the Admiralty's orders. He thought the orders were open to interpretation. They are orders, to be followed not interpreted. I wrote a review on my site. He blocked me here & on FB, he scared or something. 😂

@CaptFitzjamesRN @MrBoatman1845 For example, in RN commissions of the period, authorize is often used in the context of taking command. In such situations “authorize” was synonymous with “require”, emphasizing duty over optionality.
