I thought the revolution was supposed to be for everyone, a democratic uprising. It turns out that ‘everyone’ might not be quite so inclusive as I had thought.

This semester I asked my UGs to critique a ChatGPT4 critique of an academic paper. This has been a great way to encourage students to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of LLMs while also getting them to think critically about an academic paper. 10/10 would assign again.

"Expert in their field" = Spent so many years immersed in a narrow topic that they've forgotten how to converse with people. Yet, just like everyone else, they also cringe at the word “expert”.

"Made significant contributions to their field" = They've developed a new acronym or framework that only they use or understand.
