We were proud to represent the Houston Police Department today at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Candlelight Vigil in Washington, D.C. Police Week is a solemn reminder of the cost of this profession and the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. We stand with the families, friends, and agencies of every fallen officer whose name is forever honored on the Memorial. To our HPD brothers and sisters we have lost, and to every officer across this country who never made it home, we remember you, we honor you, and we will never forget your sacrifice. We'll take it from here. #PoliceWeek #NeverForget #HPD #HPOU

HPOU PAC Votes Unanimously to Endorse Mayor John Whitmire for Reelection - The Houston Police Officers’ Union PAC is proud to announce its unanimous endorsement of Mayor John Whitmire for reelection. Since taking office, Mayor Whitmire has shown a real commitment to public safety, responsible leadership, and supporting the men and women who serve the City of Houston every day. Under his leadership, the city has taken important steps to improve services, restore stability at City Hall, and address long-standing challenges that have been ignored for too long. Mayor Whitmire understands that keeping Houston safe means supporting first responders, improving recruitment and retention, and ensuring officers have the tools, staffing, and resources needed to do the job. He has also shown a willingness to make tough decisions and take on the long-term issues facing our city instead of kicking the can down the road. HPOU stands with Mayor Whitmire because he stands with Houston police officers and the communities we proudly serve. We look forward to continuing to work together to keep Houston safe and moving in the right direction.

On the latest edition of “What’s Your Point?” Commentator @BillKingHouston raises the issue of “bait & switch” in regard to Council Member @salinasforhtx who ran on a platform of fixing streets, infrastructure, trash collection but once elected immediately pivoted to immigration policy. @FOX26Houston more at KRIV.Fox/wyp

The HPOU is saddened to learn of the passing of former HPOA/HPOU President Hans Marticiuc. Hans devoted many years to serving Houston police officers, including 12 years as president of our union. His leadership and dedication to the rights, pay, and working conditions of Houston police officers left a lasting mark on this organization and its members. Please keep his daughter, family, and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Hans.

His name is Jaxon. He should be here, growing stronger in his mother's womb. His life mattered. Ashanti should be here. Her life mattered. Houston needs to come together for the family of Ashanti Allen. Please pray for them. #JusticeForAshantiAndJaxon

On September 30th in 2025, Kevin Faux was charged with the third degree felony of "Continuous Violence Against The Family", after numerous violent assaults of Ashanti Allen (who was pregnant at the time). He was booked into the Harris County Jail. Because of a prior two year prison sentence in 2020 for Aggravated Assault, he was facing 2 to 20 years in prison for this new felony charge. After 142 days in the Harris County Jail, on February 19th in 2026, Kevin Faux's felony charge was pled down to a Class A Misdemeanor and he was sentenced to 280 days in the Harris County Jail. He was released 138 days early from jail on that day. 50 days later, Kevin Faux brutally murdered Ashanti Allen and their unborn son. This is another example of the major failings of the revolving door criminal justice system of Harris County, Texas. Hundreds of innocent people in our community have been murdered because we are not taking crime seriously here. Shame on all of us who aren't doing enough to protect the innocent.

On latest “What’s Your Point?” We heard City Council Member Fred Flickinger offer perspective on new “Catch & Release” policy imposed by Council on @houstonpolice regarding immigrants wanted by ICE, suggesting the number actually handed over in 2025 was a negligible “rounding error.” @FOX26Houston more at KRIV.Fox/wyp

Last night we had the chance to cheer on Tyler Martin, the son of fallen Houston Police Officer Richard Martin, as he played baseball for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in what was his final game in the Houston area. Tyler had a strong group in the stands supporting him, including retired Captain Paul Follis, retired Lt. Rebecca Follis, HPOU Vice President Tim Whitaker, HPOU Executive Director Ray Hunt, and Tyler’s sister Cynthia. It was a great night of baseball and a good reminder that the families of our fallen heroes remain part of our law enforcement family. We were proud to be there supporting Tyler. 💙⚾🇺🇸

Today at @RODEOHOUSTON's Armed Forces Appreciation Day, the Houston Police Officers’ Union had the honor of presenting one of our challenge coins to 102-year-old World War II veteran Chester “Buck” Sloan of Houston. Buck landed in Normandy just days after D-Day and fought across Europe with the 2nd Infantry Division carrying a Browning Automatic Rifle. During the war he captured around 30 German soldiers, survived being wounded by a grenade during the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Purple Heart and the French Legion of Honor. It was a real privilege for our officers to shake his hand and thank him for his service. Men like Buck are part of the Greatest Generation and the reason we get to enjoy the freedoms we have today. God bless Buck Sloan and God bless America. 🇺🇸
