Hey Big Mike 👋🏼 I am a former MLB beat writer who launched my career through baseball. If you recall, Nick Gordon was a high 1st round pick (5th overall) by perhaps the best GM in Twins history — in a draft class that has produced six players within the first 13 picks with at least 20 career WAR. Scouts actually thought he had an extremely high floor (ceiling was questionable) — because of his plus-plus makeup, athletic profile and ability to make contact at a high rate. He turned out to be a late bloomer, but he posted a 111 OPS+ in his first full season before falling off a cliff (in the middle of the Derek Falvey era of talented young position players… stalling out or falling off cliffs…).
