🧵 For decades teachers have been tasked with more and more on their already overfilled plates. For decades we've been calling on govts of the day to support our students' learning (& our working) conditions. Many of those govt's had multibillion $ surpluses. /1
Ornella Matta-Figueroa@decivilizing

What’s expected from teachers right now is not realistic. They can’t both teach curriculum & also single handedly emotionally recover the children of this nation after/through the many traumas they are living. It’s a ridiculous expectation please stop asking them to do this.

@PfParks “An individual earning minimum wage in Alberta — which at $15 an hour is the lowest in the country — could earn $31,200. By comparison, individuals who rely on AISH receive approximately $20,880 per year, after the CDB is clawed back.”

@Alberta_UCP Your crew doesn't care about those things. Ideology is already covered in Code of Conduct for teachers. Bill 25 is nothing more than a distraction from Smith's healthcare fiasco. #abpoli #ableg

“When MLAs of any stripe start picking their voters, instead of the voters picking their MLAs, we are on a very slippery slope. I am totally demoralized and dismayed that our work was discounted and not accepted.” From a boundaries committee member. reddeeradvocate.com/2026/04/20/ucp…

Yesterday the UCP shut down debate & forced through their plan to rig our next election by having their own MLAs redraw the maps. I took a moment to share the voices of Albertans from across the province who understand just how dangerous & damaging this will be. #ableg

Moments after @GregClarkAB released his statement reiterating that the majority of the commission wanted to see the full report adopted... Smith claimed in effect that Clark actually wanted the 91 seats and the judge said what she wanted to hear. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Today, 3 UCP MLAs, ironically including Indigenous Affairs minister, voted down hearing from me on behalf of nearly half million #ForeverCanadian signatories and completing their work before the #AbLeg session ends. This is to give separatists time to complete their petition.

Another Day, Another Scandal This wasn’t known before today. The government changed how public funds were paid out - and routed $38 million through a lawyer connected to other ongoing government scandals. Same network. Same names. More money. Albertans deserve to know: - Why the rules were changed - Who approved it - And how much money actually reached its destination I raised this in the Legislature today. Watch what happens next. #ableg #abpoli #alberta #abtory -

Bill 206 is a simple piece of legislation, recommended by their own advocate, that would have given ALL Albertans the ability to live with dignity and hope, but the UCP government voted against it today. We deserve better. We deserve so much better.

Well isn’t this all kinds of fun! After last nights show where we pointed out the missing files from the Wyant Report, the files was quietly updated! And it’s got some interesting details about Chartered Surgical Facilities! #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Remember, when teachers spend money on ad campaigns to support public education the money comes from our own pocket. When @ABDanielleSmith runs ads that mislead about teachers’ wages, working conditions and contract negotiations, you’re the one paying with your tax dollars.

This is absolutely outrageous, unethical and borderline corruption. Void of data to see the effects of government policy, they are free to continue to make decisions with no accountability. Alongside the ongoing privatization of surgery (using public money) we NEED this data.

Alberta Health has decided to stop collecting data on patients dying while waiting for surgery and diagnostic. This sort of secrecy is unhealthy, by Colin Craig calgaryherald.com/opinion/column… via @calgaryherald @SecondStreetOrg @DennisKendel #SecretCanada

It's been a minute. Life. Work. Etc. But I felt compelled to hop on here to share a little of what acute care is facing in Edmonton. Warning: it's grim. Really grim.
