This week I joined my @AmerAcadPeds colleagues from around the country in DC to urge our elected officials to reject Medicaid cuts! Children are the largest group of Medicaid beneficiaries including 44% of all NY children. Any cuts to Medicaid will harm children's health.

Georgia voters have now cast more than 1 million ballots in the 2024 general election as of Friday, according to the secretary of state’s office. More women have voted than men, and ages 65-69 are casting the most ballots of any age group. For @wabenews:

The shelter in place has been extended into this morning. Schools and businesses are closed. It’s not clear what chemicals children and families have been exposed to. Certainly a lot more questions than answers at this point. 11alive.com/article/news/l…

Kids returning to school shouldn't have to worry about the threat of gun violence, but yet another community has been tragically affected by a school shooting. AAP mourns with all affected in GA and will continue to advocate for policies to keep kids safe and to #EndGunViolence

The students at Apalachee HS started school a month ago. Today some won’t come home, because the gun lobby’s profits were prioritized over their safety. These could be your kids. These could be my kids. So I ask what any parent would. “What are we doing about the guns?”

In Winder, GBI director Chris Hosey says the suspected shooter was a 14 year old student at the school. Four were killed — 2 students & 2 teachers — and nine others wounded and hospitalized. ajc.com/news/crime/geo…

Today, we approved and granted emergency use authorization for updated mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (2024-2025 formula) to include a monovalent (single) component that corresponds to the Omicron variant KP.2 strain of SARS-CoV-2. fda.gov/news-events/pr… The mRNA COVID-19 vaccines have been updated with this formula to more closely target currently circulating variants and provide better protection against serious consequences of COVID-19, including hospitalization and death.
