If you can't afford to pay your workers a fair wage, you can't afford to run a business
Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

“A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop…” So? It’s not like there aren’t dozens of other coffee shops that will be happy to take your business and pay their staff. This argument happens every time with minimum wage rises. It’s nonsense.

Internet pool focused at Western civilization. Dare you to press blue if they put an actual bomb around your neck and it becomes real knowing every African Muslim and third world shit hole country whose only method of survival depends on themselves was voting. Easy to say blue when nothing is really on the line

“We don’t live in a high trust society” >test society >high trust wins >test again >trust wins >test again >trust wins “Well obviously they’re all lying”
Rock Solid@ShitpostRock2

High trust society is when you put your life on the line and hope that some stranger 10,000km away chooses the same illogical retarded option as you The entire point is that most societies are NOT high trust and will vote for their own interest. Don't trust them with your life

Fire requires oxygen. Starts are not fire but nuclear reactions. Fire can exist anywhere where there is sufficient atmospheric pressure, fuel and oxygen. Naturally we know of only one place fire exists and that's on earth how due has existed in pseudo environments on the space station as well

You assume that the vast majority of farmers are going to pick blue, and you are sadly mistaken. If faced with the very real possibility of death as the consequence of choosing blue, I promise you can be on your high horse all you want on the internet but in that room, you are pressing red.

@sleepy_devo If you say so champ. Or the people that pick red and pragmatic and understand people the whole world over a lot better than just their own belief structure and moral altruistic nature.

@oqayowoqwq LOL pretty easy? You think, between thousands of cultures, ethnicities, moral stances and beliefs that it is pretty easy to get 50%? On 8 billion people? With over half of them having the IQ of a turnip? Hahaha delusional.

i picked blue too. seems like a logical answer since, if we all pick blue we all live. the only reason to pick red is out of fear of others picking red which is stupid because you are adding to the problem trying to dodge it.

@dannycantalk Doesnt make sense. Every red button presser dies if they switch to blue because you posed this to only the red button pressers. Only you (and every other red button presser) dies? Red again please.

For red pressers: The test is over. Red button won. You don't know by how much. You are randomly selected to get one last chance to save everyone. If you press the red button again, nothing changes. If you press the blue button, only you die and everyone else lives.

@theramblingfool I would inform my loved ones to not be suicidal but in the end I cannot make the choice for them and everyone in this world, this hypothetical thought experiment not withstanding, is responsible for their own choices and have to face the consequences of that choice. It isnt hard.

Pro-red responses I've seen, when confronted with the possibility someone they care about might press blue: (1) No one I care about would ever press blue (really?) (2) [insert problematic group] aren't included in the hypo (wrong) (3) Those loved ones have to die (psychopathic)

Can we stop saying " if you can’t afford to tip you can’t afford to dine out!" We need to be saying, "If a restaurant can’t pay its employees a livable wage without depending on the generosity of customers then they can’t afford to own a business!”

@CameronCorduroy Because each district has to have approximately the same number of people and since the major urban centers have the the largest concentration of people, they get split up.

Red is for pragmatists that understand the vast majority of the world is out for self survival You think Islamists, third world shit holes and the poor are thinking about altruism or self survival? THAT is the vast majority of the people on the planet. If the whole world was polled, including those people not on the internet, I promise less than 20% are pressing blue.

Except that there are vastly more people in this world that are not altruistic and would rather go with the safe bet than there are altruistic idiots. This poll answered largely by western countries. People who's whole life has just been a struggle to survive aren't going to magically become altruistic, they are pressing that red button automatically.

"es que si todo el mundo pulsa el rojo..." Ya, y si todo el mundo pulsa el azul tampoco muere nadie. La diferencia es que si pulsas el azul no condenas al otro grupo. Si sabiendo que hay gente que pulsa el azul, pulsas el rojo, entonces eres el malo, no hay mas
MrBeast@MrBeast

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

You spelled pragmatic wrong. Westerners pressing the blue button assume all other cultures on earth have their same idiotic moral high ground. 8 billion people on this planet and you assume 4 billion plus would make a choice that could end their life because of some twisted sense of morality. Most people on this planet would go for the button that assured them life
