Today at #WomenDeliver2026 in Melbourne, Australia, we contributed to two key side events advancing menstrual health and menstrual justice. In a session hosted by @IriseInt under “Grassroots Rising: Collective Power for Menstrual Justice,” where we spoke from a network perspective, highlighting how The Period Equality Network (TPEN)- a network of grassroots organizations and social enterprises are driving collective action for menstrual justice. Through our work across the network, we see that accessible, adaptable funding combined with capacity strengthening and peer learning enables grassroots organizations to respond to community needs, engage in advocacy, and sustain impact, reinforcing the need to shift resources, decision-making, and power closer to community-level actors. In a second session hosted by @WASHUnited, where we shared how Uganda has strategically used Menstrual Hygiene Day as a platform to move from awareness to action, bringing together government, civil society, and grassroots actors to align priorities, strengthen coordination, and drive policy progress. Together, these experiences show that advancing menstrual justice requires sustained collaboration, evidence-based advocacy, and investment in grassroots leadership to build a #PeriodFriendlyWorld. #MenstrualJusticeForAll.

In honour of International Women’s Day, we convened a safe space centred on the theme “Give to Gain.” The event featured two segments on skilling and economic empowerment, where womxn engaged in conversations on navigating the labour market, strengthening financial literacy, and the importance of professional upskilling. These discussions unfolded during a candid beading and knitting session, creating space for openness, connection, and shared learning. This also provided a practical demonstration of opportunities that advance womxn’s equality. The conversations further explored the link between community investment and personal growth. We incorporated a wellness dance and physical activity session to promote holistic health, stress relief, and community bonding. It also created space for networking and peer exchange, with participants sharing resources and mentorship opportunities. By investing in our collective skills and wellness, we contribute to a more prosperous and empowered future for all, reflecting our commitment to intersectional inclusion and economic justice.

What does it take to sustain impact over 15 years and scale it even further? Yesterday, we hosted a #StrategicBreakfast Meeting, bringing together partners and supporters for a moment of reflection, dialogue, and forward thinking. As we look back on a 17-year journey of working alongside communities, we recognize that progress of this nature is never achieved alone. It is shaped through partnership, shared learning, and a collective commitment to long-term impact. The conversations in the room were thoughtful and energizing, grounded in experience, but focused on what more can be done to strengthen and expand this work in the years ahead. We were especially encouraged by the willingness to engage deeply, to ask critical questions, and to contribute ideas that will help refine @MEMPROWUganda next phase.
