Give me Anthony Mantha on a 2 year short term deal. Inflate the AVV Mantha - Newhook - Demidov Would definitely be a nice short term upgrade at a low risk

Tons of Blue Jays hats and even jerseys around Halifax, which is cool but thus far have only seen one Leafs hat and zero Habs attire (which is a net positive). Nova Scotians seem to have good taste in not wearing the toilet seat.

Habs fans, your GM is not a genius because he’s signed like 14 of your players to multi year contracts each with an AAV of about $35 bucks. He’s paid them market value because they all suck.

The Montreal Canadiens did just an incredible job locking up Ivan Demidov. Writing was on the wall with more offer sheets coming to the NHL. The fact they have that core all locked in for below $10 million is actually insane. Gotta think they’re gonna win a Stanley Cup in the not too distant future.

People need to stop pushing this Montreal contract narrative. Nobody cares. Those guys are all paid what they deserve, they are not any better than those numbers. None are true superstars. Cut it out.

@WatchMyReview Part of being a GM isn’t letting it get to an offer sheet. But you are right about one thing: MTL has a group of young players all bought in. No one is holding out and everyone is signing a year early. That lets management do its thing. Character matters

I'm seeing this from Habs fans a ton and why? This is an offersheet. That's why he's getting so much more than any Hab. If Anaheim had a more dedicated owner(Which affects the GM), then Carlsson would not be getting anything close to this.

@Banx_Leaf Also I’ll add that MTL’s biggest flaw is missing a 2C and another second line talent. Hage and Zharovsky will both be in that role come this April. A-Level prospects

I think the part you’re missing here is having a cap structure like this allows you to maximize between 2028-2035. I don’t think the next 2 years is where you’ll see the merits of this. It’ll be in 2-3 years once guys like Hutson/Demidov/Slafkovsky are making an NHL equivalent of 5.5m a year. Don’t care if you agree or not but it’s math and you’re missing the point

Good line from Kyper on Wednesday but you better hope it’s enough. I think the Habs core is better but Ottawa did a whole lot of this a few years ago when everyone was signed to those long term deals. Better hope it’s enough, that’s such a tough division for the next 3 years

Hage is NHL ready man… Too much preparation can be a bad thing, the sooner he starts getting NHL experience, the better. I really hope he changes his mind and is in Montreal to start the season. He’s exactly what Demidov needs on the 2nd line.

I’ll admit it: Michael Hage is an untouchable at this point. One thing that stood out to me today is that he’s now 205 pounds and 6’1. His filled out frame coupled with his skill and skating is very evident. He’s going to be coming in as a man who will instantly thrive in a top 6 role. We have ourselves a stud.
