Our second winner of this year's GRE voucher giveaway is Hiqmah Oyebanji (@Hadiyyyyah) Hiqmah is a two-time applicant for the Michael Taiwo Annual Scholarships so I am particularly pleased she is getting this. She graduated in 2024 with a Second Class Upper in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Ilorin. She emerged as the sole recipient of the Super Volunteer Award during her induction into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). Wow! The discovery of regulatory T cells (Tregs), which I have worked with for 20 years, just won the Nobel Prize! Congratulations to Brunkow, Ramsdell, & Sakaguchi! In fact, my lab was among the first to engineer human T cells into Tregs using the FOXP3 gene they discovered!
