@crritch1967 @Theleaguemag I was at Roker ‘73 the night we beat Man City 3-1 in the 5th round replay. The Roker Roar never better in my era. But the Roar that night when Dan Ballard scored at the SOL against Coventry & the following scenes, were as good as anything in my 60 yrs following SAFC

@Capt_Fishpaste Absolutely. Show racism the Red Card was initiated by Ged Grebby a Newcastle fan with the support of Shaka Hislop. A charity later supported by our very own Garry Bennett.

Something I think it's important to stress about the Geertruida incident: All rivalry aside I don't for one minute think that's who Newcastle are as a club or a fan base. In fact I know it's not. Let's get the racists out of our football clubs without tarring others. #SAFC #NUFC

Was €20m with a potential €5m in add-ons. So £17.3m rising to £21.7m. #SAFC

@Capt_Fishpaste Is that how much we got Brobbey for? £17millon? If so - wow!!! I know he had off the field issues last year but whoever scouted him, should be given a huge pay rise!!!

@JamesCopley_ Bottom message is a decent & fair enough jest but that top message is petty & looks it now after what happened on the pitch

@JimmyJelly88 If we’ve Dan Burn & Harry McGuire at the back, we’ll need him to score 4 of those belters every game then.

Sums it all up pretty well TBF. Last time I was at SJP was for the Northumberland Senior Cup Final Between Morpeth Town & Blyth Spartans. I guess it’ll be a tad more lively when I go Sunday #HTL

@Ridderz86 And its not like its a bad view either. A bigger debate is why they don’t now fill the front rows of seats up there now we’re back in the PL. The only trouble we have had which led to the current situation was back in lower divisions with fans & teams we don’t see anymore.

@GordonIanArmst1 Surely that headline should read ‘The Iran war shows why we should switch from reliance on Fossil Fuels & support a fast track transition to renewable energy’. There. Fixed it.

You forgot to mention that Thatcher privatised our Gas & Oil from the North Sea, many moons ago. So basically you’re post isn’t relevant tbh, but 💯 that’s certainly not this governments fault anyway.
Agent P@AgentP22

The Iran crisis exposes the madness of shutting down the North Sea. When 20% of global oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, relying on imports isn’t “green virtue”. It’s strategic stupidity. We are governed by idiots. thetimes.com/article/f6b701…

@laterunner_14 @theawayfans You can fly to Bournemouth from Edinburgh. But you’d have had to had flown last night to me meet this daft 12:30 KO. Quite why they didn’t make it a 17;30 KO if they wanted to put it on TV is a bigger question for travelling fans.

@theawayfans Why can't 4,5 or so flights be put on from Newcastle to Bournemouth from 9 or so? Clearly demand is there,no luggage,£50ish return.Good PR for airlines with invaluable service for fans who've been screwed by tv companies, plus 100s guaranteed seats sold. Fans miles better journey

Sunderland fans’ official club travel set off at MIDNIGHT last to get to Bournemouth for their lunch time game today. It’s a mammoth 700 mile, 12 hour round trip. 🤯 1,307 have travelled in their sold out allocation, Incredible dedication. 👏

This was our squad for Speakman's first game, a 1-0 home defeat to Wigan Athletic in League One. Cannot be emphasised enough how great the job he done was.

@CWeatherspoon_ @TheAthleticFC Sunderland had to buy quality as well as experience given the low average age of their promoted squad. The fact they were still able to bring in so many talented under 24s like Sidiki, Talbi, Roeffs, Diarra, Brobbey et al, shows their mixed recruitment model has worked perfectly

Everyone talks about the size of a club's transfer expenditure - but how often do we compare what it was spent on? For @TheAthleticFC, I've had a look at 2025-26 Premier League teams' spending by age, and what it tells us about those teams: 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗: nytimes.com/athletic/70226…

Been at Villa Park today & witnessed the most farcical VAR decision I’ve ever seen! 😳🤷‍♂️@AVFCOfficial The game was stopped for about 5 mins after Villa had equalized while a goal check was performed. Apparently they had to check whether the ball was millimeters out of play at the other end of the pitch near the corner flag in Villas defensive third. The linesman didn’t flag as he either couldn’t see or presumably thought the ball hadn’t gone out. Villa kept the ball in play, broke upfield & after some interplay round the box, scored. But these days VAR, has to intervene to check absolutely EVERY tiny potential infringement of the rules… they seem to actively find reasons to disallow a goal! Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought VAR was brought in to clear up ‘clear & obvious’ errors. The decision to say the ball was millimeters out of play took a team of VAR operators in a control room somewhere approx 5/6 minutes to work out, with their umpteen camera angles & tech equipment! Is that clear & obvious?… I hardly think so. VAR is ruining the game. Where does common sense come into play? If Villa had kept possession of the ball for longer with a slow patient build up of passes for a couple of minutes, then would VAR go right back to the incident? How many minutes do we go back ffs? Where does it end? 😳 Thoughts anyone? 🤷‍♂️

@lewcla @KieranMaguire @HOMESofFOOTBALL @EFL I remember that game. Keano was having a heart attack after you went 2-0 up with about 10 mins left. How we got it back to 2-2 god knows as we were atrocious. Ah well. Thats football

@Hag_SAFC @KieranMaguire @HOMESofFOOTBALL @EFL One of my fondest away trips was at the SoL in the League Cup…..we went 2-1 up until a last minute Anthony Stokes header took the tie to penalties….which we obviously lost! Martin Smith a legend around these parts.

The average attendance in the @EFL Championship at the weekend was 22,120. Forty years ago it was 5,984. Average losses in the Championship are £570,000 a week. Player sales and owner subsidies help clubs to survive. Football doesn’t have a selling seats problem, it has a cost control problem. (Thanks to John Sayers for the pic)

@JacobHorsfall_ I saw Sunlun v Spurs in Div 2 in the 77/78 season when a young Glenn Hoddle was in the team. They were only there 1 season and haven’t been relegated since.

Realistically, it won’t happen. However… If Tottenham do get relegated, what would even happen? The knock on effect for the second tier would be largely positive (I think) more eyes, more TV coverage = more money But, I think it could destroy a club like Spurs in the short term
