Ugh... got this DM from a Product Leader friend a few days ago. "Earlier today, I had a call with our PE investment partner. We'll be fully adopting a sales-led mentality, w/ top-down decision-making on strategy + tactics... Point-blank told me that my work on developing a product strategy for next year was a wasted effort. That it will be prescribed to me. My reply was to be blunt and honest, that I need to move on - if that is where they want to go and what they want/need, I'm not the right person for them." What a punch in the gut, eh? No treats. Just tricks. So, two questions for you: 1. What would *you* do if you got news like this? Personally, I give my friend credit for being up front that he's likely to leave. It's hard to imagine being able to stick around, though. Not the kind of product management org I'd want to be a part of. 2. Are you looking for a Product Leader?
