I hope it’s clear that the same sick minds that carried out systematic sexual atrocities on Israeli women, men and children on Oct.7 are behind the sick fabricated and unsubstantiated claims that Israel trained dogs to rape Palestinians. In the first case, international media and organizations failed Jews and Israelis by keeping silent. In the second case, international media and organizations failed Jews and Israelis by repeating and amplifying the lies. In both cases this is a moral failure of the highest order.

The targeting of the Israeli pavilion at the Venice Biennale is not “activism” - it is intimidation. Attempts to silence, isolate or harass Israeli artists and cultural representatives have no place in a democratic society or in the world of art. I welcome the decision by @Cancilleria_Ar to declare Mohsen Soltani Tehrani, the Iranian Embassy’s chargé d’affaires in Argentina, persona non grata and to expel him from the country. The grounds for this decision include the Iranian regime’s persistent refusal to cooperate with Argentina’s judicial system regarding the AMIA bombing investigation, and the appointment of individuals wanted by the Argentine judiciary to senior positions in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). I thank my colleague, Minister of Foreign Affairs @pabloquirno, for this courageous and inspiring decision. Argentina, under the leadership of president @JMilei, stands as a model for defending the values of freedom and leading the fight against terrorism. The Iranian regime is murderous toward its own citizens and its neighbors; it is the number one threat to global order and security. It is not legitimate. Period.

The reality of war, witnessed in Jerusalem: our meeting with the Israeli economist Eugene Kandel had to be moved to a shelter during an Iranian attack.

An Iranian missile exploded over Jerusalem’s Old City. Its fragments fell on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Armenian Patriarchate, the Jewish Quarter and on the Temple Mount near the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Iranian regime is firing missiles toward Jerusalem’s holy sites, endangering Jews, Muslims, and Christians alike. Israel, meanwhile, acts to protect worshippers of all faiths in its capital city.

Israel has submitted its Counter-Memorial to the ICJ, rejecting South Africa’s fabricated and politicized blood libel. Israel is the only country that has been fighting for its existence since its founding almost 78 years ago.​​​​​​​​​​​ Israel faces relentless threats of annihilation from Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and other terrorist organizations. Hamas’s charter explicitly calls for the annihilation of Israel - ‘Islam will obliterate it just as it obliterated others before it’ - and Hamas and the Iranian axis actively strive to carry this out. South Africa is attempting to turn this reality on its head, advancing a false and inverted narrative. South Africa, Hamas’s legal mouthpiece, is weaponizing international law as a propaganda spectacle. Following Hamas’s invasion and massacre on 7 October 2023, Israel exercised its right and duty to defend its citizens. Contrary to South Africa’s baseless claims, Israel has affirmed, through words and deeds, that it was targeting Hamas and its accomplices, not Gaza’s civilian population. Israel made extraordinary efforts to mitigate civilian harm, while Hamas deliberately abused its own people as human shields. Israel has also undertaken large-scale efforts to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. As demonstrated in the Counter-Memorial, the Court lacks jurisdiction, and South Africa’s allegations should be dismissed in their entirety. Any contrary determination would undermine the fundamental right of States to defend their citizens against terrorists attacking from civilian population centers.
