@anya1anya I first noticed this during the late sixties, when the media fixated on the so-called "generation gap" -- which "othered" young people and made disparagement based on age fashionable. One generation set against the next in what became a fight for survival. Divided, America fell.

@anya1anya I wrote a column years ago about the way the AMA was actively opposing the expansion of medical schools. As a trade group one of their goals is to restrict the supply of physicians. I found that shocking.

@Volcoucou Meanwhile, our public schools only allow the "top athletes" to participate on their sports teams. My short kid loves to play basketball and vollyball. "Go home, you're not on the team" was the message they gave her. That just outrages me. #LetAllTheKidsPlay #FindAWay

@jeffwgallant GREAT question (hi!) We need regular periodic (2× a month to start) open online #OER pedagogy meetings organized by discipline & led by faculty paid 2 present their work. Whoever does that owns the future of higher education. Folks register to participate and over time it grows.

@SabrinaMarie45 On the legislative front, I've proposed that we amend the HEOA to require that schools must annually publically report what they do to help faculty who want to use, adopt, and/or create #OER if those schools accept federal money. No congressional sponsors yet. But that wuld help.
